05- Queen's Friends

RUMORS WOULD be the last thing that could be wiped out on this land. Lagi na lang may tsismis.

"Mukha bang nagkaroon ng kaibigan yan?" One girl asked to her flocks.

Nasa canteen ako ngayon para bumili ng snacks tapos pupunta ulit ako dun sa sarili kong tambayan. Pero pagpasok ko, yan agad ang bumungad sakin.

"Sa sobrang maldita niyan, I'm sure walang maglalakas loob ng kaibiganin siya."

"OR. Yes, OR." I bet she's smirking like she found something funny in what she's about to tell. "Or, she's the head of the flock."

"The upper-handed b-tchy friend."

"Or, lahat ng friends niya b-tch din."

"I agree. Since the birds on the same feather—"

"—flocks together." They said in unison and laughed. What's so funny about that?

Hindi ko na lang sana sila papansinin ng mapansin kong si Yshi pala ang pinag-uusapan nila. She's inside the canteen— which is very unusual— and eating her snacks alone on her table. She seems oblivious to the rumors around.

Nandun na ako na kinakatakutan siya ng lahat dahil sa pagiging maldita niya. Students even call her Queen Monster, but I can't see that through her.

Naiiling na mabilis na pumila na lang ako para bumili ng makakain at umupo sa tapat ni Yshi.

"Mind if I join you?" Tanong ko.

Kaswal na nagtaas siya ng tingin at ng makilala ako, agad na tiningnan ako ng masama.

"Nakaupo ka na nga magtatanong ka pa." Reklamo niya.

"At least, nagtanong ako."

Naiiling na ngumiti lang siya at tinuloy ang pagkain niya. Hindi ko rin mapigilang di mapangiti.

As we ate in silence, my mind wandered off about what they'd said. I was itching to ask if she has friends, or are they b-tch? Are they like her? What kind of people are they? Or does she even have one? Pero sino naman ako para mag-usisa sa kanya?

"May sasabihin ka, Jace?" She asked in a small still voice that only I could hear.

Napatingin ako sa paligid at kitang-kita ko yung weird na tingin nila samin. Ngayon lang kasi may lumapit kay Yshi. Yeah, I was the first person who approached her without crumbling myself on the ground. Kulang na lang kasi lumuhod kami sa takot sa kanya.

"Baka ginawang assistant ni Yshi." Rumors.

I almost shook my head. Ganito na ba kalala ang problema nila at lagi nilang binabantayan ang kilos ni Yshi? Now I understand her b-tching around.

"Alila niya siguro." Another one commented.

"Sumosobra na talaga yang reyna-reynahan ni Yshi dito." Someone added once again.

"It's probably about time for her to get herself a slave."

Bulungan na dinig na dinig ko. Napatingin ako kay Yshi na parang walang narinig. So if she can play blocking their nonsense words, I can do it too.

"So?" She asked as she played the straw on her drink.

"Kailangan bang may sasabihin ako kapag lalapit ako sa'yo?" Kunot-noong tanong ko.

That was bold of me. Alam ko kung gaano siya katapang and she could kick me out of the school this instant. But I want her to know that I don't have any other intention of approaching her. I am not here to get something from her.
