Ellie's POV
I hear a knock on the door and I get up from the couch. I look through the window and see its McKenzie. I let her in and she smiles at me.

"Hey, what's up." she asks and I shrug. "Just texting my friend." My eyes widen as I realize what I said and I mentally slap myself. "Um, you weren't texting me.. is there a secret friend I don't know about?"

I pause for a couple of seconds and try to make an excuse, "You must've misheard me, I said father not friend."

"Ellie, we both know you're lying, you'd say daddy not father. Who is she?" McKenzie asks. If only she knew my friends a he..

"So what are we going to do?" I ask changing the subject. She noticed but just went along with it. "We're going shopping, there's a party tonight and we're going."

I look at her and search face to see if she's joking, "You're not joking?" I ask and she shakes her head. "Come on, it'll be fun." I sigh but nod. She grabs her keys and I get in the car.

I pull out my phone and pull up Jason's contact even though he's working. I text him saying I'm nervous to go. It's true though, I've never been to a party.

We get to the store and McKenzie searches the racks. I stand there feeling awkward and she motions for me to go to her. I look at the clothes she's looking at my eyes widen.

"My daddy would never let me wear that." I say to her and she groans. "You're 17, you can pick out what you wear. Plus it's a party, you're supposed to dress like this." McKenzie says and I nod.

She holds up a red dress and grabs a ripped jean jacket. She hands the clothes to me and tells me to go and try it on. I go into the changing room and examine the clothes. I need Jason's help on this.
