Falling for You

Part 30

Today was the yearly board meeting at the company. Discarding all the events from the party yesterday, I dressed in a black pan suit and placed my hair in a ponytail. I grabbed my work bag and locked my bedroom. Going downstairs into the kitchen, I grabbed a water bottle from the fridge and sat on one of the bar stools near the island. I took out my phone and looked through my calendar. Today, Daniel, Nathan, and Harvey will be having a conference on the ownership of the company with Daniels cousin, Alex. And I am guessing today they will figure out who gets to own it. The rest of the week were just regular business meetings. I finished my water bottle half way and placed it back in the fridge. I grabbed my keys, locked the doors, and drove off in my car to work. I hadn't driven my car in a while. It felt so nice to actually be able to be in control.

"Hey Blair or should I say Mrs. Kerrington. Its been long", Isla said, as I walked up the reception. Oh my god, I forgot I am engaged to Daniel. It feels weird being called Mrs. Kerrington.

"Just call me Blair", I said, signing in. "I haven't talked to you in so long Isla. Hope we can meet up and talk one day".

"Blair, I have some news. I'm moving away"

"What", I said in surprise.

"Yeah, my boyfriend proposed and now we are getting married in Malibu and moving there also", she said jumping up and down.

"Congratulations", I said giving her a smile.

"Same goes for you. I didn't know you were hitting it off with Mr. Kerrington", she said winking at me. I looked down as she chuckled and gave her an awkward smile.

"Well, its been nice talking. If we don't see each other again, I wish you luck in the future", I said, giving her a hug.

"Aww Blair, I am going to miss you. I just hope whoever takes my position likes you", she said, hugging me back. We both said our farewells and then I made my way to the elevator.

Entering the 61st floor, I made my way to the penthouse. Swiping my key card, I opened the door, hearing people talking in the kitchen. I placed my bag on the floor of the entrance and made my way into the living room.

"Well if it isn't Mrs. Kerrington", a voice said from behind me. I turned around to find Harvey, smiling at me from the kitchen. I walked over to the open concept kitchen to find Harvey cooking some eggs.

"You seem to be in a happy mood", I said, sitting on one of the bar stools.

"Well I'm not in a happy mood. The meeting today will predict my future here at this company so you know, I'm trying my best to stay positive", he said, flipping the smashed eggs.

"I'm sure it'll be fine. Besides, I think the board will choose Daniel over Alex", I said, leaning against the counter.

"And why do you say that?"

"Well I mean Daniel is engaged to me so he has advantage. And I am sure Alex isn't as capable of handling a company like Daniel", I said seriously.

"I'm glad you feel that way", someone said from behind. It was Daniel of course.

"Well as Harvey said, I am just thinking positively", I replied. Harvey chuckled and then gave me a plate with eggs.

"No thanks Harvey. I'm not hungry". I pushed him back the plate.

"As you wish". He took the plate and placed it next to me. Daniel then took a seat next to me and started eating the eggs. I took in his appearance to see he was wearing a black suit with a white shirt underneath. He looked hot. My soon-to-be husband was hot.

"Are you done checking me out", a voice said, snapping me back to reality.

"Excuse me? In your dreams", I scoffed. Daniel just grinned at me and went back to eating.
