Falling for You

Part 16

I woke up, hearing a knock at the door. I went to open it and found my little sister, Bay, holding car keys.

"Why are you disrupting my sleep", I said yawning.

"Sorry Blair, but this is important. Because of the party tonight, I need to look my best so I need to go to the salon and get ready".

"And what does this have to do with me?"

"I came here to ask you this time personally if I could use your car". I honestly cannot believe her. Dad had so many cars. Why can't she drive them?

"No, seriously, go ask dad for a car".

"I did, but since I wrecked one of his sports cars, he won't let me have one".

"You wrecked another one? Gosh your a screw up and my answer is no. I need to go home and get ready for the party so I need it today".

"Wait, your going to the party? Is Nathan going to be with you?", she asked jumping up and down.

"No and stop asking about him".

"Then who are you going to go with?", she asked.

"I don't know yet".

"Ugh, whatever. I guess I'll just have to call my friend to pick me up".

"Yeah, go do that", I said as I closed the door on her face. I went to the bathroom, took a quick shower, put on a shirt and some jeans, and went downstairs.

I raced down the stairs so my mother wouldn't see me, but she caught me.

"Blair, where are you going? Breakfast is ready. Come and eat".

"Okay, I am coming", I said as I followed her to the dining room. Dad was sitting at the head of the table with his laptop, Bay was sitting to his left, mother was sitting the other head of the table, and another person was sitting right next to Blair. He was a man. His hair was light brown but I couldn't see his face. And he was sitting in my old seat.

"Blair, come sit next to me", my mother said. I was over to her when my father interrupted.

"No, Blair, you will sit next to me. We have some things to discuss". I looked at my mother and she nodded for me to go and sit with him. I sat down next to him and then looked at the man sitting next to Bay. He was handsome. Bay noticed I was looking at him and then said, "Blair, this is my boyfriend Bass. We've been dating a for awhile now". Wow, she has a boyfriend. I'm surprised she hasn't driven him off yet. As a sign of courtesy, I extended my hand and introduced myself. "Hi, I'm Blair Hanes. Nice to meet you". He took my hand and squeezed it a little tight and said, "I'm Bass Quin. Nice to meet you as well". I let go of my grip but it took him a while to let go. I finally thrusted my hand out and then he let go. The chef then brought me my food and I started eating it. Once in a while, I would feel Bass starring at me. God, I need to get out of this house. 

I quickly ate my food and stood up.

"Sorry guys, but if you want me at the party tonight, I have to go home and get ready", I said.

"Blair Cornelia Hanes, sit down. You have been away so long you have forgotten your manners", my mother said a little angry. I sat back down.

"Blair, is Nathan available to go today", my mother asked. I was going to answer but my dad cut in.

"I will not allow you to attend the party with Nathan", he said.

"Charles, I don't understand why you don't like him. Nathan is a gentlemen", my mother said in a soft voice.

"Laurel, I don't want my Blair to go with that man. That is final", father said. My mother calmed down and went back to eating.

"Well, I did ask Nathan but he said he was busy. So no, I don't have a date". When I said this, Bass was looking at me intensely. His gaze was making me really uncomfortable.
