Part 17

4:30. Damn it, I was going to be late. My mothers gown designer sent the dress late and it just arrived. I am supposed to be at the party by 5:20. What the hell am I going to do. I quickly put on foundation and a little make up and straightened my hair. The dress she made for me was until my knees without sleeves. The color was maroon and the back was completely open. I finally realized it, my mother wants me to look like a stripper. Passing away the thought, I looked in the mirror one last time and then headed down the stairs.

My black heels were in the shoe closet so I went in to grab them. It was now 4:45. Great. at this rate, I could make it on time. I raced out the front door and got in my Cadillac. Yes, I was going to make it on time.

5:15. 

I got there earlier than I expected. I texted my mom and she said they were coming in their limo in 5 minutes. I quickly parked my car in the parking deck and raced to the entrance of the building. I didn't know if I was is in the right place for a moment because there were all these photographers and journalists here. There was even a red carpet. What the hell! Was some kind of movie premier going on. I looked around hoping to find someone I knew, but I didn't recognize anybody. Just then, a long, black limo pulled up and out came this man in a very expensive Valentino suit. His sexy blond hair swayed to the side as he got out. Then out came a gorgeous female. She was a little taller than me but she looked as young as me. She was wearing a long blue dress to the floor and silver heels. They both walked down the red carpet as they posed for the photographers. 

I was in a daze. Was I in the right place? Just then, there was a tap on my shoulder. I turned around to find Josh. He was wearing a black suit and behind him stood the one and only, Holly Monroe. She was wearing a business casual dress holding a stack of files in her hand.

"Hey Blair, long time no see", she said, leaning in for a hug.

"Yeah, it's good to see you Holly", I said as I returned the hug. "How have you been?"

"I am good and I would love to talk but I have a meeting to get to".

"A meeting? Right now? In the middle of a party?"

" Yeah, it sounds very overwhelming but it was scheduled for today so you know", she said as she gave me a soft smile.

"Oh, I totally get it".

"Yeah, so I have to go inside. Are you going in? Josh told me you asked him as your date", she said giggling. 

"You know I'm right here, Holl", he said rolling his eyes.

"Whatever", she replied.

"Yeah, I had to bring a date because this is a family event so I asked Josh".

"Oh, well you guys have fun", Holly said, and then headed inside. Once she was gone, me and Josh talked at the side of the entrance waiting for my parents to come.

After what seemed like forever, I saw a black limo pulling up. It stopped and out came my sister Bay and her stupid boyfriend Bass. Looks like they are still together. Then my mother came out and then lastly my father. This is was my chance to join in. 

I took Josh's hand and led him to where my parents were standing. My mother and father noticed me and smiled.

"You look beautiful in that dress", my mother said, giving me a hug.

"Yes, you absolutely do" my father commented giving me a hug. I then took Josh's arm and led him to my parents to introduce him.

"Mother and father, this is Josh. He is my date for tonight", I said. They both looked at him. My mother just gave a wry smile but my father looked extremely over joyed.
