Ch. 22 Summer

Colby and his family were going to Florida for the summer, so I felt like I wouldn't have anything to do, and I also didn't have a lot of friends to hand out with. Even though I had Jendell and Sam, I felt that I'm not that close to them anymore.

Right now, Colby was texting me on the plane about how he's sitting with this girl his age, named Jill. He sent me a selfie of him and Jill smiling into the camera. She looked really pretty, with golden blonde hair and really blue eyes. I kinda felt somehow, I don't know. Jealous?

I low key wish that it was me next to him on the plane.

He texted me that his plane is about to leave, so he had to put his phone on airplane mode.

<Text convo>

~4 hours later~

(C): Just got there.

(M): That's good.

(C): I met Jill's little brother and parents.

(M): Really? are they nice?

(C): yah they are.

~1 week later~

(C): I really like Jill but I don't know if I should ask her out.😕

He likes Jill? I was hoping that didn't happen.

(M): Does she have a boyfriend?

(C): I asked her and she said she doesn't.

(M): Then go for it.

(C): Okay thanks.

~1 day later~

(C): I asked her out and she said yes.

Nooo😞

(M): That's great. Where are you taking her?

(C): I'm taking her to a restaurant.

(M): Oh that's nice.

~1 day later~

(M): How was the date.

(C): We had a really fun time. We have so much in common.🙃

Of course.

(M): You must really like her.

(C): I do like her a lot.

(M): Are you gonna ask her to be your girlfriend?

(C): I'm nervous. What if she rejects me?☹️

(M): I highly doubt it.🤔

(C): Okay I'll ask her tomorrow.

(M): Good luck.👍👍

~4 weeks later~

(C): She said yes.🤣😄😎

(M): It's been a month and now you ask her?!😑😑

(C): I told you I was nervous.

(M): Well it shouldn't have taken that long, but I'm happy for you.

(C): 😁

~5 days later~

(M): What's up?😜

(C): The sky.✈️

(M): Shut up.😒

(C): 😂😂

(M): No seriously, what are you doing?

(C): Hanging out with Jill.

He sent me a pic of her kissing his cheek and Colby looking into the camera.

I felt my heart drop a little.

(M): Aww y'all look so cute.💙

~2 weeks later~

(C): My family and Jill's family are gonna go bowling tonight.🎳

(M): Okay tell me how it goes.

(C): I will.

~1 days later~

(C): Jill cheated on me.😢

(M): Wait seriously?!😦 I'm gonna facetime you.

<FaceTime>

He answered and I saw his eyes all red and puffy, and his face flushed.

"Colby, what happened?"

"It was w...when we went bowling last night. Her boyfriend came there too."

"But why would her boyfriend come?"

"I found out that her younger brother Max told him to come because Max felt that it was wrong for Jill to date me. And she was dating him before I asked her to be my girlfriend."

"I'm so sorry."

"I really liked her too. I guess I wasn't good enough."

Tears started rolling down his face.

"Oh my gosh, Colby don't cry. You did nothing wrong. She's the one who decided to cheat on you. She missed the opportunity to be with an amazing guy."

"You think so?" He asked, wiping his tears off of his face.

"Of course."

"Sadie I...I miss you."

"I miss you too Colby."

So much.

"I wish you were here."

"Same, but I'll see you in 3 weeks."

"I can't wait."

Colby just texted me that his flight just landed. I didn't tell him that I was surprising him at the airport.

My mom dropped me off here, so I was currently waiting for Colby and his family to show up.

5 minutes later I see them appear.

When Colby spots me he leaves his luggage where it is and pretty much runs over to me.

We just stood there staring at each other, and a grin started to form on our faces.

"Are you gonna hug me or just stand there?"

He laughed before he hugged me picking me up.

He put me down. "What are you doing here?"

"Well....I wanted to surprise you."

He grinned showing his teeth and dimples.

I felt like I was about to melt. Wait what?

"By the way, how'd you get here?" Colby questioned.

"About that....um..I need a ride home. My mom dropped me off here so I don't have a ride."

He shook his head smiling. "I gotchu."

The rest of the summer was really fun, with Colby back. I hung out with Jendell, Sam, and his girlfriend, and we got close again.

Junior year is about to start, and I have to get ready for the things that are going to come.

Let's see if things change this year or stay the same.

In the back of my mind, I felt like it was going to get worse.
