Sixteen

Chance took off early this morning. Hindi ko na siya nadatnan pagbaba ko. I sighed, dapat ganun naman talaga. Hindi ko kayang makipagtitgan sa kanya after what I said last night.

One, two, three, four, five, six, seven. Uuwi na sila daddy bukas. It has been a week. Gusto ko na siyang mayakap, umiyak sa harap niya, maikwento lahat ng nangyari sa akin habang wala siya.

I was playing with my pen as I listen to my client ranting about his shitty relationship with her girlfriend. It was over the phone pero maririnig mo talaga ang inis sa boses niya.

"I have been with her for three years. At hanggang ngayon hindi pa rin siya nagbabago. She still does the stupidest things!" Inilayo ko ng onti sa tenga ko yung telepono. He was screaming mad.

"Then I guess you'll have a problem with her every single day Patrick. Hindi naman sa kinakampihan ko ang girlfriend mo, but think about what made you fall for her."

"Her wit, her bizarre attitude." Tahimik niyang sagot.

"There you go. If you keep on making her change the way she is, lagi talaga kayong magtatalo niyan. You have accepted her the way she is then, bakit mo naman gustong baguhin ang buong siya ngayon?" The other line went quiet for a while bago ko narinig na suminghap ang kausap ko.

"Your right Doc. Thanks. This is the most refreshing advice I have ever received." Then he dropped the line.

Glad I was able to save another relationship. Ipinasa ko na ulit sa empleyado ko ang telepono. I was about to go back inside my office ng nahagip ng mata ko si Cael.

I've been avoiding him for days now, pagkatapos nung nangyari sa amin ng gabing iyon. Pero andito na siya, wala na akong nagawa kundi papasukin siya sa opisina ko. Maganda na rin ito, we need to get this done and over with.

"You've been avoiding me Amy." He said as soon as we enter the room. Umupo ako agad sa shrivel chair ko.

"I'm sorry Cael. Pero hindi na ito tama."

"Anong hindi tama?" His eyes are now taunting me for answers.

"Ito. Tayo. Hindi na tama. I thought I can give you another chance. Akala ko kaya kong magsimula ulit kasama ka. Pero hindi Cael. Things are not right between us. I can't feel the spark anymore."

Nanlumo ang mata niya, he was looking everywhere pero hindi dumadapo ang tingin niya sa akin. He looked exactly like this when I returned the engagement ring months back. "You're not actually giving me enough time here Amy, just a little more tim-"

"Hindi Cael. There's nothing wrong with you. You're a guy, I know your needs. And maybe I was too busy sa work kaya mo nagawa yun. But still, you cheated on me at maaalala at maalala ko yun kahit na pinagbayaran mo na ang kasalanan mo. Yun yung mali sa atin, I can forgive you but I can't forget what you did."
