{Ethan}

the words rung in my ears like an annoying dog whistle.

Denton?! Drafted?! No.

No no no no no!

He can die! I could hear my wolf and daiya howl in sadness.

"Denton.... How much time do you have?" I leaned over and place my guitar down before pulling Den into a hug.

"Not long. Fourteen days. Ethan! I don't know what to do! I'm going to die with out even meeting my mate!" He began to cry hysterically, causing many stares. I glared at them and they averted their gaze away.

"You are not going to die! So stop that nonsense!" I only hugged him tighter, my words fading and sounding like I was trying to convince myself more than assure Denton.

"You can't be sure! I can die and I won't be able to say good bye!" He only sobbed more, trying to bring me closer.

The rest of the class period was spent with us clinging to each other and crying silently as the others minded their own business.

Since we had all our classes together, we spent them together. Finally, after a torturous five hours, the bell rang for lunch. I grabbed my guitar and led a silent Denton to the lunchroom.

We sat in our usual area and sighed heavily. I brought up my guitar and played a soft tune, the chords sounding sad and depressing.

The rest of our group sat next to us, filling up the round table.

"Guys. I don't know why you guys are all sad, but I must announce something." We looked up to the Alpha of another pack.

Terrace. A tall, built, yet kind Alpha. He was shorter than me, but taller than Denton (every one was taller than him), his hair in a brown ponytail loosely tied back, his amber eyes growing tired and sad.

We looked at him, expecting him to say something, but all we got was a letter thrown in the middle of the table.

The Marine Crest.

"Fourteen days." He mumbled, bringing one of his knees up to his chest and hugging it.

"That makes two of us." Denton chuckled dryly, making Terrace look up.

"Three." Another letter was thrown on the table. We turned to look at Sage, the Beta of Denton's pack. He swept his dark blonde hair out of his face and watched us with calculating onyx gaze.

We looked at each other, my hand stopping mid strum. Not a word was uttered, before a deep, and very powerful growl halted time itself.

We looked up to see my Alpha, our heads respectfully bowing.

Leon strode up to me, handing me a crumpled letter and a box.

"The box is for your father. The letter was addressed to you and came yesterday." He then turned on his heel, obviously mad and saddened.

I was to scared to look at the letter, my eyes watering.

"Is it....?"

Sage asked, looking at me. I finally looked down and saw the crest.

"Four of us." I confirmed, looking away as I had the sudden need to go for a run.

We all nodded and picked up our stuff, going to our lockers and dropping everything off.

I begrudgingly left my guitar as I locked the locker and went to meet the group of four outside.

We nodded at each other and then walked out to the forest, waiting until we could not hear the shouts of the basketball team practicing on the out door court.

I was the first to shift, presenting my black, silvery tin eyed wolf. He was much taller than the others, aside Denton. What height he lacked, his red, green eyed wolf made up for.

Terrace's wolf was a nice, amber brown, his eyes a honey amber color.

Sage shifted last, letting us see the dark blonde wolf with black eyes.

Denton made a sharp 'huff' sound, leading us as we ran through the territories and nodding at the guard wolves in acknowledgment. We then arrived back at the school, twenty minutes in to the last hour.

We shifted, dressing ourselves again as we walked back inside. Terrace threw a cologne my way, scrunching his nose. I chuckled as I sprayed myself and tossed it to an equally smelly Sage.

"I thought sage was supposed to smell nice?" Denton joked, spraying his own cologne. Sage only grumbled, tossing the can back at Terrace.

"Come on guys." Terrace laughed, leading us to our joined, last hour. Up to lunch, we shared our classes, along with Terrace's Beta, but he got really sick.

"I sighed as I went to go retrieve my guitar from my locker, meeting up with our group outside the door, waiting for me.

It was music class.

We entered and grinned.

Terrace almost immediately went to his electric guitar, Denton smiling as he grabbed his violin and Sage shaking his head and grabbing his bass guitar.

Terrace's beta played percussion, so together, we were known as a band.

It might sound a weird combo of instruments, but together, we sounded so fucking majestic.

Terrace and Sage began to play together, practicing for the future competition, only to be joined later by Denton and lastly, me.

We began to play a few chords before we ended up having  battle.

Who could play an anime theme medley the best.

Terrace began with the Soul Eater theme song, laughing at our shocked faces.

Denton intervened with the first theme song for Full Metal Alchemist smirking proudly.

Sage was having none of it as he put his bass down and grabbed an electric guitar, smirking as he broke out into Attack on Titan theme song.

I shook my head, knowing I was already beaten and playing Fairy Tail's theme song.

With a slight smile, I finished, looking down. Around us the class began to clap, the music teacher going up to us and smiling.

"That was beautiful!" He praised us, telling us some suggestions and tips.

We puffed our chest out as some girls came over and tried to flirt, making us laugh.

With out missing a heartbeat, we said the same thing.

"We're gay." We left the stunned group of girls as we took our proper instruments to a corner, practicing some songs before the bell ring. I hugged my group of friends and bid them farewell as we went our separate ways.

After taking all my stuff into my truck, and carefully putting the box next to my guitar, I went to pick up my twins. Pulling up, I saw their big grins and large smiles. I didn't want to leave, if it meant having to leave them crying.

With a sad smile, I buckled them in to the back seats and frowned after getting ready to drive home.

How will I tell my parents about that white envelope?
