3. Time To Meet The Captain

Start from the beginning

Finally, Cain had gotten the boy backed up into a corner of his crew and the boy was unable to move out of the way of the swinging sword. For a split second the Captain thought that Cain was going to slit the guys' throat, but realised that he was proven wrong as Cain stops swinging and holds his sword at arm's length in order to place it under the boys' throat. Both men stood there, still and panting and staring at each other.

"I'd say I've won," Cain says, a smile crossing his lips.

The crew then roar up in laughter and cheers and before the Captain could blink twice his crew were surrounding Cain.

Rolling his eyes at not being surprised by Cain winning, yet again, the Captain stands up straighter in order to yell at his men.

"Okay, fun's over," the Captain yells over the crew.

The crew shortly disperse from around Cain in order to stare up at their commander, broad smiles on their faces. As each young face turns to stare up at the Captain, the Captain couldn't help but smile down at them all. That was before he came to his senses and lets the smile drop into an authoritative expression.

"NOW GET BACK TO WORK YOU SCUMS!"

"AYE!"

Seconds later his crew were scattering around in order to look for a job to do. Some stayed on deck while others vanished downstairs. Cain smiles up at the Captain, their eyes locking. The Captain only rolls his eyes at his best mate's actions, before turning around and walking through the door into his room.

Alaina sits down in her cell, the dust gathered around her. She'd drawn intricate images in the dust with his finger, her only form of entertainment. It wasn't like she could do much seeing that she was locked up and all.

"Ugh," Alaina says as she slumps back against the wall after having gotten up to walk around the room. Her legs had gotten tired of being curled up, so she'd gotten up and looked around.

Once she was sitting down again, facing the wall, she notices the marks etched into the wooden surface before her. Tallies of the days people had been locked up in the cells for line the wall. Alaina, with a delicate hand, reaches out and trails her fingers down the lines. Then silently wonders how long she was going to be kept down her.

She hadn't meant to be caught. No, all she'd wanted was a ride from one land to another and what better way to hide within the ships contents and then come out at the next pit stop. Unfortunately for her, she'd underestimated the pirates and been caught, leaving her to rot within these cells walls.

"Whoa," Alaina says as she pulls back from the wall.

The touch of the wood causes goosebumps to rise up her arms. How cold did it have to be down here? Surely the warmth from outside could flow around the cells? There was a peek-hole up in the far centre of the wall, but it was too tall for Alaina to look out of.

"I wonder when I'll get out of here," she sighs and tilts her head up to look at the wooden ceiling before her. She prays with all her might that she'd get out of this situation but she had a funny feeling it wasn't going to be easy.

You should've been smarter! You shouldn't have been caught!

Alaina rolls her eyes at her mind twirling thoughts around in her head. She couldn't help the fact that she'd gotten caught.

Suddenly the sound of the door opening at the end of the corridor is heard. Alaina instantly stands up at the unusual sound of boots travelling down the short passageway. Before her stood a pirate, a hat covering his facial features in the dimly lightened hallway.

"OI girly, the Cap'tn want yous," he says.

Alaina glares at the boy and steps backwards.

"And by th way, I wouldn't try anythang, ya know that we're pirates and al'?"

"Oh I know," Alaina replies. "But you don't know what I am."

The pirate only gives a laugh before drawing out a big set of keys from within his pockets and putting one into the lock on Alaina's cell door. Hope rises within her chest. Maybe she could fight her way out of here?

"C'mon now," he says, nodding his head backwards and indicating for her to get out of her cell.

Alaina reluctantly takes a step forward before proceeding all the way out of the cell. She had a feeling that perhaps the pirate was playing with her and was going to attack her as she walks out, so she keeps a safe distance from him and walks around him with her eyes trained on him. The only reaction she got was a crooked toothed smile from the pirate. Alaina forces herself not to gag on the teeth and turns around to look up at the empty hallway.

When she turns around to look at the hallway all she is welcomed with is another pirate. Her shoulders slump at the hope falling down into the pit of her stomach. Before her stood a relatively blonde haired pirate, a smug look on his face.

"Don't worry, we're not going to bite... hard," he says, sarcastically. The older pirate creeps up behind Alaina and bits down on his teeth near her ear, causing Alaina to jump up where she stood.

The blonde haired pirate and the older pirate crack up into fits of laughter.

"Have a little fun young one," the blonde one says, extending a hand for her to take after his laughter quietens down.

Alaina looks from his hand to his face. Something about him made her subconscious subside and so, without taking his hand, she walks around him with her head held high. She wasn't going to be interfering with any pirates any time soon and she told herself that she'd keep her head held high with no worries in mind.

"Ouch," the blonde pirate says before following Alaina down the short hallway and out into the ship.

Alaina enters the ship and looks both ways, the older pirate leading the way. Though she couldn't help but feel her curiosity take over her as she stares around, the scenery very different to the scenery she'd been picturing in the back of her mind. She'd been expecting cob webs and dark hallways around every corner. Instead there was light streaming from big windows at the end of the hallway, lighting the wooden hallway. There were a few paintings strewn across the walls here and there, but not many.

Men...

Alaina thinks.

"I'll lead the way," the blonde pirate says, walking around Alaina and into the hallway.

Alaina dodges the touch of the blonde boy as he continues down the hallway, leaving the older pirate to order her to follow. Alaina takes a second longer than the older pirate had wanted and then shows her his teeth in order to get her moving. Alaina cringes at the look with a disturbed facial expression, before advancing down the hallway after the blonde pirate.

Minutes into the walk and the blonde pirate was already talking.

"Names Cain by the way," Cain says, his eyes looking over his shoulder at Alaina. Alaina, who had her head down at the time, looks up to meet his blue eyes, but turns around at the sudden locking of the eyes.

"And mines Greg," the older pirate says from behind her.

"Nice," Alaina says, muttering under her breath.

The soft laugh of Cain is heard.

Minutes later all of them end up at the door of the Captain's bedroom, causing Alaina's stomach to knot. What was going to happen? What was she going to do?

"M'lady," Cain says, spreading his arm around towards the door in order for her to take the knob and go inside. Alaina looks at him uneasily, before taking a deep breath and stepping up to take the handle.
