Chapter 1 (Maddie's POV)
I slung my book bag over my shoulder, shutting my locker door. Only one more year, I thought. Only one more year of this jail cell of a school. I couldn't wait for college. My daydreams were interrupted by my best friend, Bree.
"Maddie!"
She called running down the school hallway towards me. I laughed as Miss Briggs came out of her classrom to confront Bree. She crossed her arms and said,
"Miss Marks there will be no running and yelling in the halls."
Bree turned to her and nodded politely.
"Yes ma'am."
Miss Briggs left, and I snickered.
"Now, now Brianna Marks,"
I spoke, mimicking Miss Briggs voice,
"we don't run."
Bree laughed.
"Whatever. Anyway, are you excited for the best trip of our lives?"
She cheered, wrapping her arms around me.
"Yes, of course."
I replied as we began to walk back down the halls to leave. We strode past Stella, who gave me a glare. I decided not to say anything. It was the last day of school and I didn't need any drama with Stella; the all-time meanest girl in school.
"A whole summer at the beach with you,"
I breathed.
"And my family,"
Bree huffed, unhappily.
"I think we'll be fine. I love your family. At least your cousin, Niall won't be there,"
I said.
"Right,"
Bree said laughing almost too casually.
"Well let's get packing!"
I giggled, pulling Bree outside to my car.
