As I walked across the room with my arm linked with my Dad's, all eyes staring at me on my special day, I still couldn't believe it. I couldn't help it when my mind drifted back to the day that started all of this
After my Mum had forced me into accepting the invitation to my cousin Ceallach or Cel's, as I call him, birthday party, I had to go and buy a cute dress. Oh joy... A dress. I called my friend Laura to meet up with me at Costa Coffee after about an hour of traipsing around countless shops and trying on several dresses that just didn't do me any favours. God, shopping should be an extreme workout, I can see the exercise DVD's now 'Now grab those shopping bags and give me 12 arm curls, go!'. Laura however, is not much more of a fan of dresses than I am so whenever I pointed out a decent dress, she would run off and look at a pair of shorts- she loves shorts.
"Laura! Get serious!"
"What? It's not like I'm going!"
"Ooo! You could come with me! Come on, these parties are always so boring! My mum always goes off and leaves me and I'm sat by myself!"
"This is just a plan to get me in a dress, isn't it?"
"No, it's a plan so I don't look like a loser in front of my cousin!"
"Why are you bothered anyway, he's only family!"
"Yeah but he's all famous now! And he'll probably have famous friends there and I don't want to look like a reject!"
"Oh alright. But nothing too girly!" Laura is such a liar, she always tries to make herself seem all not girly, to be fair she isn't but when it comes to dresses she always picks out the cute ones. In the end, she got a short peach dress with ruffles on the top and I got a simple navy blue maxi dress with embellishments around the waist- It cost a flipping fortune!
We went back to my house and grabbed a hot chocolate because it was FREEZING then changed, Laura looked nice and she said I did too but I didn't see it. We arrived at the party fashionably 10 minutes late and was greeted by Cel's who gave me a big hug, he's like a big brother when we're together but we're not that close otherwise since his career took off.
"You look pretty." He said politely, spinning me around
"Err... Thanks."
"I'm in town for a while, maybe we can meet up and catch up. I'll text you. Anyway, I've got to get back to my friends before they make a fuss." Lie. He doens't have my number and he knows it. He walked over to five guys who were drinking and laughing. I yanked Laura over to a little gazebo thing and we sat down.
After about half an hour, I needed the loo so I abandoned Laura who swiftly stood up to go find someone to talk to. It was really dark by now and I had to walk through the tiny forest of trees to get up to the house
"Where is it?" I whispered to myself. I walked for a minute until I came crashing into someone who could obviously see me because of the angle of the lights
"Shit! Watch where you're going! This dress cost me a fortune and now it's got beer all over it!"
"What? You could have looked too."
"No Einstein, I can't see, you can see me, use your eyes!" I shouted, hitting the guy on the arm
"Sorry." He said sarcastically
"Oh shut up. Now move out the way so you don't walk into me again, I have to go and try to salvage my ruined dress thanks to you." He didn't move
"I said move." Nothing
"Budge, you idiot!"
"At least let me... Err I dunno. Buy you a new one? Help you clean up or something?"
"Well thanks for the grand gesture Romeo but for now, you can just move out my way."
"But-"
"I SAID MOVE OUT MY WAY." He moved obediently before I stomped past him, he snickered
"Lot of anger in that one." I heard him so I held up my middle finger as I walked away
After I'd made my way back, I found Laura back in the gazebo chatting to Cels which is more than I've done
"Hey cuz- what happened to your dress?" He said
"Some idiot wasn't watching where he was going and walked straight into me. Now I reek of beer."
"Oh my god, you're pissed off dress girl? Nath was just talking about you!" He laughed
"Nath?"
"Yeah, my mate. He walked into you, he's kinda sorta sorry, wants to make it up to you."
"Well, he should kinda sorta do it himself." He nodded and smiled. He ran off and appeared minutes later dragging some guy who looked rather reluctant
"Now, introduce yourselves, kiss and make up." He said, patting the guy on the back who blushed a bit
"Hi. I'm Nath."
"So, it was you?" I said, crossing my arms
"Yeah... Sorry 'bout that." Now that I looked at him properly, he was cute, plus his accent was adorable but that doesn't disguise the fact that he is a douche.
We chatted for a while and it turns out he was pretty nice. We exchanged numbers although I doubted he would call me.
I walked closer and closer, my vision blurred slightly through the veil. My Dad removed the veil and handed me over and kissed me on the cheek.
"The vows?"
"Saba, after the way we met, I could never have imagined we'd end up here. We've had our ups and our downs but nothing compares to this. We've reached the highest heights and hun, the only way is up for us. I love you more than I could have ever thought I'd love someone and I promise to love you until the day I die and even then, I'll be chilling up on that big cloud in the sky, waiting until we can be together again." He reached towards me and wiped the tears from my face and I did the same for him
"Nathan, when we met, I thought you were an absolute idiot but... Yeah my opinion hasn't changed. But I freakin love you, you idiot and I can't wait to see what our lives have in store for us. I want to do everything we've talked about: getting married, travelling the world together, you taking a break from the band, buying a cute house in Gloucester, having children together, retiring in a cute little village but I can wait for all of that as long as we're together. And I'm happy to say we've already ticked one thing off that list, we're getting married. I love you Nathan Sykes."

"I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride." He leaned forward and kissed me. Me- Saba Sykes.
