Chapter Ten

I woke up with a start, rolling over to face the room and once I had adjusted my eyes I made out Kimberley walking into the bathroom. I smiled as last nights events came back in to my head, oh dear god was Kimberley going to be feeling rough and not just in her head, her conscience was going to be prickled to. Sarah was in her usual sleeping position, being a lump under the duvet, I had no idea what time she had got in, because once I had closed my eyes I was out for the whole night. I yawned loudly and attempted to sit up, but my head told me otherwise so I lay back down and watched Kimberley come back in the room, she immediately noticed I was awake and gave me an awkward embarrassed smile,

“Hey,” She said shyly, still standing by the bathroom door.

“Morning, how are you feeling?” I teased, smiling wickedly.

She groaned, “Arghh Cheryl don’t, my head is sore, but my vague memories are worse,” She held her head in her hands.

I sat up slowly crossing my legs and coaxed her over to my bed, she sat on the opposite side and I spread the duvet over both of our legs before saying, “Aww Kim, you were a cute drunk, if a little annoying,” I couldn’t help but laugh.

She blushed heavily, “Seriously, that is the worst I have ever been, normally I’m the sensible one, its her,” She pointed towards Sarah,” she's normally the worst; it was Martin he kept giving me more and more,”

I swallowed a lump in my throat, I didn’t think it would be right to tell her that he had tried to hit on me, but if he did anything else I’d be on him like a shot, I already did not like him.

“Well I’m just surprised you haven’t woken up with a cold,” I smiled, trying to get off the subject off Martin the twat. “The amount of rain we had to walk through,”

“I don’t have a cold because you sorted me out when we got back her,” She smiled, “I do remember a bit of that and owe you a big thank you, so thank you babe,” She blushed again.

I returned the smile, “I’m sure there might be moments when you have to do the same for me,” I joked, trying to make her feel more comfortable.

Her face lit up, “You’re going to stay then?”

“Urr well I don’t know yet, I just said that to make you feel better,” I replied truthfully, the smile falling from her face.

“Ohh well I appreciate the effort, but its going to take more then that,” She laughed. “Oh and Cheryl? I feel really bad about last night, can I make it up to you? We can get the bus into town, do some shopping, grab a coffee or something?”

“Kimberley you don’t have to make anything up to me, honest,” I reassured her.

“You don’t want to go then?” She asked, diss- heartened.

“Well I’m more of a tea lass myself, but I guess I could let you take me out,” I winked.

She smiled widely, “Brilliant, I’ll ask if any of the other girls want to come out, but I doubt they will, I don’t even know why I’m offering to go out to be honest, the state my head is in,” She said, rubbing her head.

“Well we don’t have to go if you –“I was cut off.

“- No, I want to go, if you do that is?” She hesitated.

I couldn’t help but laugh, we were a pair, “Of course I want to go,”

She relaxed a bit, and began to laugh too, “Good, what time is it? I still feel it’s too early to be up am I right?” She asked.

I looked at my phone, “You are correct it is way too early to be up, it’s only 8.30! And it’s a Saturday!” I groaned.

Kimberley groaned louder then I did, “I am annoyed at myself, if I hadn’t been such a state last night I’d be happily sleeping,” She frowned.

“Well I might not be,” I giggled.

“You would be asleep, wouldn’t have my wonderful self distracting you that way would you,” She teased.

“Are you still drunk? You’re not speaking clearly,” I joked.

“Oi!”  She playfully slapped my arm, “You’re getting to cheeky for my liking,”

“Shall I go back to moody anti-social Cheryl then?” I asked, raising my eyebrows.

“Hmm maybe not, I’ll take that back,”

“That’s what I thought,” I answered back, smugly.

She frowned slightly, obviously defeated, I rarely lose arguments even if there playful!  “I could be going back to sleep now if it wasn’t for you keeping me awake,” She said smiling slightly.

I opened my mouth in mock offendment, “I could say the same, if your so tired babe, get out of my bed,”

She hesitated for a second, “No I’m warm here,” She frowned, defeated again. “You are a feisty one aren’t you Cheryl,”

“Aye, I’m just that, bit rough and ready,” I winked.

“I like that in a woman,” She playfully winked back.

“Good, because I change for no one,” I replied cheekily.

“Oh you’d change for me,” She answered surely, this girl liked banter I loved it.
