TLH2: Chapter 2

Na-touch ako sa sinabi ni Dad. Kahit na nagsisimula palang kasi ako sa pag-aaral ng business, may tiwala na agad sa akin si Dad kaya I don't want to fail him.

We've reached our destination at lumabas ng elevator. I inhaled once again and walk with confidence. I know I can do this! Bakit ba ako kinakabahan? Ipapakilala lang naman ako. Dinaig ko pa yung nag-dedefense ng thesis nito eh.

Pinagbuksan kami ng pintuan ni Fran. He is Dad's personal assistant. Isa siya sa mga tumulong sa akin sa pag-aaral ng business. Kasama niya si Natasha which became my personal assistant. They are both outstanding kaya hindi mapag-kakailang gustong gusto at may tiwala sa kanila ang pamilya namin.

The room is full of middle-aged ladies and gents. Malaki ang conference room ng TGC kaya nag-kasya ang halos 10 board members of TGC from different branches. Mayroon ding skype chat na naka-project sa wide screen para ipakita ang ibang miyembro ng board from around the world. Some of them are familiar to me, kasi minsan may meeting na na-heheld sa London noon kaya yung iba siguro kilala na ako.

Lahat sila ay napatayo ng makita kami. Pinaupo naman sila agad ni Dad. I stand next to my father.

"Good Morning, everyone. Thank you for attending today. I appreciate your presence here regardless of the paper works you are working for today."

Everyone laughed at my Father's statement.

"So, I'll make this quick. Ladies and Gentlemen, I will introduce to you Triveia Group of Companies' new COO, my beautiful daughter, Erin Winter Sanders."

All eyes on me and all of them gave me warm of applause. Yes, I will be the Chief-Operating-Officer. I smiled to all of them.

"Thank you for your warm welcome. I know most of you are wondering where I came from but it's a very long story. Any way, it is my honor to be TGC's new COO. I hope I can work with all of you. I may not promise to be the perfect COO, but I assure all of you that I will do my very best. Once again, thank you."

Nakahinga akong maluwag ng maka-upo ako sa swivel chair ko dito sa office ko. That was fast. Akala ko magtatagal pa kami sa loob buti nalang at dinismiss na agad ni Dad kanina. Nagpaalam na din ito sa akin at kailangan pa daw nilang pumuntang Rio ni Mommy dahil nga hindi daw natuloy ang meeting na supposed to be was yesterday. So, here I am in my new office.

Nagsimula na akong mag-trabaho. I grabbed one folder on my desk and reviewed it ng tumunog ang intercom ko.

"Ma'am, Mr. Sanders is here." Sabi ng secretary ko na si Danni.

"Okay let him in"

Pagkababa palang ng intercom ni Danni, biglang bumukas ang pinto ko at iniluwa nuon ang kapatid ko. Ngingiti-ngiti ito. Lumapit ito sa akin at nakipag-beso.

"Hi"

I glanced at my wrist watch. "The CEO is late."

Natawa ito sa akin. Hay nako. Napailing ako.

"And the COO's too early." Balik nito

"Whatever, kuya, anong kailangan mo?"

"Well, I am just here to give you this." Sabi nito at inabot sa akin ang medium-sized na red box.

"Ano naman iyan?"

He shrugged. "I don't know, binigay lang ng maid kanina. It was addressed to you. Eh maaga kayo umalis kaya ako na nagdala nito."

Inabot ko yung red box at nilapag sa gilid ng table ko. Mamaya ko nalang bubuksan iyon.

"Okay. Anything else, kuya?"
