Chapter 38: Party Planning

Start from the beginning

Lucy smirked. "I think it should be Levy."

"I agree." Lisanna nodded.

"Levy would be the right person to do so," Erza agreed.

"Levy it is!" Mira exclaimed.

I stared at Lucy who just smiled innocently.

"Fine!" I threw my arms up in defeat, and walked out the door.

I took a deep breath before knocking on the boys' door.

The door opened, and there stood Gajeel, who stared at me.

"Shrimp," he said, surprised.

"Levy. My name is Levy," I corrected.

"Right. So what can I do for you Pipsqueak?"

I sighed, knowing that he wouldn't be calling me by my real name any time soon. Or at all.

"The girls are throwing a party for Lucy's birthday which is in two days. Mira told me to  come here and tell you guys that you have to help with the party," I explained.

Gajeel folded his arms across his chest.

"Have to?" Gajeel raised an eyebrow at me.

"Her words, not mine."

Just then, Natsu came up to the door, Happy flying above him.

"Hey Levy," he greeted.

"Natsu," I said.

I wasn't trying to be mean, but he hurt my best friend, and it would be against girl code if I talked to him like it never happened.

"I don't mean to be rude, but why are you here?" he asked.

"Alright Shrimp. We'll help, since there is no point in defying Mira," Gajeel said, ignoring Natsu.

"Great, thanks," I said, with a smile.

"Can someone please tell me what's going on?" Natsu asked.

"Lucy's birthday is in two days, and we're throwing her a party," I explained.

Natsu seemed to stiffen at the mention of her name. Had he really been affected that much by their fight? Was it a bigger deal than I had thought?

"Oh." Natsu simply walked away, Happy following him.

"Don't mind him," Gajeel said, staring into my eyes.

Our eyes connected for a second too long. I brought my gaze to the floor, and then to the ceiling. Basically, anywhere but him.

"It's fine. I should go now, bye," I rushed, turning around.

But before I could walk away, Gajeel grabbed my wrist.

"Wait," he said.

I looked back, just to stare into his eyes again. Just great.

I raised an eyebrow at him.

Gajeel slid his other hand down his face, before letting go of my wrist. "No, never mind."
