YEAR: 2014

Paul has been dead for a year. I miss him more and more each day. One day, Polly decided to move in with Julia, since she wasn't making enough money on her own.

"Gram I'm headin to work. Julia's still sleepin," she gave me a hug, "bye,"
"Bye sweetheart,"

As soon as Polly left for work, Julia woke up and began screaming and crying. I walked upstairs, into her room and picked her up. I walked back downstairs and turned the telly to some cartoons. I set her down on a play mat then walked to the kitchen. I began making some tea. When it was done I grabbed a granny smith apple and walked back to the living room. I watched Julia tumble around the mat; I just smiled and laughed.

Around noon, I heard someone knock on the door. I got up from the floor, where I was playing with Julia, and walked to the door. I opened the door to find, John.

"Hey Michelle," he smiled.
"Hi John. Can I help ye?"
"I was wonderin if I could come in,"
"Sure," I moved aside so he could enter. "Julia's in the livin room if ye wanna see her,"
"I forgot Polly moved in with ye,"
"Yeah..." I closed the door and followed him to the living room.
"Hey Jules!" John cheered.
"GRAMP!" she cheered back as she slowly stood up. She ran over to him and hugged his leg.
Soon we heard a puppy bark from the kitchen.
"Ye got a new dog?" John laughed.
"Yeah, after Marty died, Polly got a new dog. She thought that it'd be good for Julia,"
"How old is the puppy?"
"She's 5 months,"
"Yer family really likes English Sheepdogs," he laughed.
"Yep," I picked the dog up and pet her.
"What's her name?" John asked.
"Julia honey, what'd ye name the puppy?"
"FLUFF! CAUSE SHES FLUFFY!"
"Mich, I actually came here to talk to ye," John became serious.
"Oh, okay, Julia honey, go play with Fluff,"
"Okay nan," Julia ran into the living room with Fluff and continued watching the telly.
"Let's go in the kitchen," I said, "Do ye want any tea?"
"I'd love some, thank ye,"
I gave him a smile and poured a cup.
"So what did ye wanna talk about?"
"I don't know where to start," he chuckled. "Well, Michelle..." he became very nervous.
"Just say it John," I placed my hand on his as I gave him a warm smile.
"Michelle I love ye,"
"I know," I whispered.
"No, ye don't know,"
"What do ye mean?"
"Michelle," he sighed, "since I first laid eyes on ye, I've loved ye. When I first walked up to ye, I knew ye were with Paul, and it killed me. Ye were the most beautiful girl I ever laid eyes on. I tried fallin in love with Cyn, then Yoko, and I just didn't get the same feelin from them. When ye were sick, I would just sit there, and hold yer hand. I got more happiness from those few minutes than 18 years of marriage. Michelle, it killed me all these years, seein ye with Paul. All I've wanted, since the moment I met ye, was for ye to be mine."
"If ye loved me that much, how come ye always helped me get back together with Paul?"
"Cause ye were happy with him, and that's all I ever wanted for ye. I just wanted ye to be happy, even if it wasn't with me." My eyes became doughy, I knew he meant every word. "Well, I should be goin, that's all I had to say," he stood up and headed for the door; I stood up and followed him. I lightly grabbed his hand to stop him from leaving. I turned him so we faced each other. "Michelle-" I cut him off as I planted a soft kiss on his lips.
"Shut up Winston," I chuckled.
"Michelle McCartney, would ye do me the honor, of bein my girlfriend?" he laughed.
"Ye know what John, I'm willin to try it if ye are," he gave me a smile and gave me another kiss. "I'm not remarryin ye know," I whispered.
"Neither am I," he smiled.
"Then what is this?"
"What this is, is a relationship were we are here for each other, to make one another smile, and happy for as long as possible,"
"Then, I think I'm gonna like this," I gave him a warm smile.
"NAN!" Julia called from the living room.
"Yeah?" I said while walking to her.
"I hungry," she pouted.
"Then let's get ye some food," I said as I picked her up.
"I'm gonna go," John smiled.
"Why don't ye stay?"
"F-For the night?"
"Yes for the night," I chuckled.
"Alright, just let me stop at my house to get a few things,"
"Of course,"
"Okay, I'll be right back,"
"Okay," I smiled.

Little did I know, when John left, he went to Mary's house.

"So? How'd it go?" Mary asked as she let him in.
"We're together," John cheered.
"That's great John," she gave him a hug. "I am happy for ye two, but don't ye think it'll be a little strange. Ye know since Heather and Jules are married,"
"She's adopted, who gives a shit!"
Mary rolled her eyes.
"Whatever, I'm happy for ye,"
"Thanks again for helpin me Mar,"
"Anytime John," she gave him another hug.
"MUM!" Elliot called.
"BE RIGHT THERE!" she yelled back. "See ye later John,"
"Bye Mary,"
"I'll call everyone, tell them the good news. I'll make sure Polly and Julia spend the night at Heathers. Ye two deserve a nice night,"
"Thanks again,"
"Anytime," she gave him a warm smile.

John left Marys smiling, and headed to his house to pick up a few things. Then he headed back to my house.

"I'm back love," he said as he entered the house.
"Hey," I said as I washed the dishes. "Be quiet, Julia's sleepin,"
"Okay," he whispered. "Do ye want any help cleanin up?"
"No I got it, thanks though,"
"I'm gonna help anyway," he chuckled.
He began grabbing wet dishes and drying them off. When he dried them, he began looking to see which cupboard they belonged in.
"John don't bother tryin to put those away, ye don't know where anythin is," I laughed.
"But I wanna help,"
"Then dry the dishes, I'll do the rest,"
"Alright," he shrugged.

As we did the dishes, the room was filled with a quiet, awkward atmosphere.

I let out a sigh. "Paul and I always sang when we did the dishes,"
"Well, we can sing," he offered.
"Alright," I smiled.
John began singing, "Love, love, love
Love, love, love
Love, love, love,"
Then I joined in, "There's nothing you can do that can't be done
Nothing you can sing that can't be sung
Nothing you can say but you can learn how to play the game
It's easy

Nothing you can make that can't be made
No one you can save that can't be saved
Nothing you can do but you can learn how to be you in time
It's easy

All you need is love
All you need is love
All you need is love, love
Love is all you need

Love, love, love
Love, love, love
Love, love, love

All you need is love
All you need is love
All you need is love, love
Love is all you need

Nothing you can know that isn't known
Nothing you can see that isn't shown
Nowhere you can be that isn't where you're meant to be
It's easy

All you need is love
All you need is love
All you need is love, love
Love is all you need,"
"All you need is love!" I continued
"All together now!"
"All you need is love!"
"Everybody!"
We continued singing together.
"All you need is love, love
Love is all you need
Love is all you need
Love is all you need
Love is all you need
Love is all you need
Love is all you need
Love is all you need
Love is all you need
Love is all you need
Love is all you need
Love is all you need
Love is all you need
Yee-hai!
Love is all you need

Yesterday
Love is all you need
Love is all you need
Love is all you need
Oh yeah!"
We stopped when we heard Julia cry.
"I got her," John said.
He walked into the living room, where Julia was resting in her play pen. I finished up the dishes and followed him in. I found him cradling her in his arms. I smiled and walked into the room. I wrapped my arms around his waist and continued singing.
"She love you, yeah, yeah, yeah.
She love you, yeah, yeah, yeah..."
