Nyx POV:

As Enzo and I stood together near a window in the bustling Gryffindor common room, our attention was captivated by Daphney's daring feat of a keg stand. "That's impressive," I remarked, directing my admiration towards her, eliciting a giggle from Enzo who nodded in agreement.
Just as the jovial atmosphere enveloped us, Fred's towering presence loomed over me, interrupting the moment. With a slight pout, I glanced up at him. "I'll go," Enzo offered, offering a comforting pat on my shoulder as he gracefully exited the scene, leaving me alone with Fred.
"I missed you," Fred confessed, his eyes locking onto mine with a sincerity that tugged at my heartstrings. Despite a fleeting thought about the irony of Fred's eventual fate with a certain enigmatic individual, I pushed it aside, focusing on his earnest words. "I'm not back for you," I asserted, watching as disappointment clouded Fred's features. "Tom," he continued, his voice barely a whisper, his gaze pleading for confirmation. Anger surged within me, fueled by the audacity of his assumption, the mere mention of Tom's name igniting a firestorm of emotions. "Tom," I repeated with a venomous edge, each syllable dripping with disdain. "Seriously, no. You idiots." With a swift motion, I poured my drink over him, the action punctuating my frustration. His confusion and hurt were palpable, yet overridden by the alcohol-induced bravado that fueled my resolve.
As I stormed away, the buzz of alcohol coursing through my veins, I heard Pansy's enthusiastic declaration of apples, a stark contrast to the turmoil within me. Ignoring the commotion, I continued my solitary journey, the echoes of my footsteps mirroring the tumult in my mind.
Finding solace at the end of the dorm hallway, I gazed out of a window, seeking refuge in the quiet solitude. Amidst the tranquility, the distant sound of stumbling laughter heralded the return of the boys to their quarters. "Nyx!" Mattheo's voice rang out, disrupting the peace, prompting me to shoot him a withering glare before turning my attention back to the window.
"Ssh, she looks mad," Theo cautioned, attempting to quell Mattheo's boisterousness. Ignoring their antics, I focused on the night beyond the glass, a veil between me and the chaos within.
"Are you mad?" Mattheo's drunken inquiry pierced the silence, prompting me to arch an eyebrow in response. Without a word, I wielded my wand, uttering the incantation for Tarantallegra, watching as Mattheo succumbed to uncontrollable tap-dancing.
"Not cool, Nyx!" his protests followed me as I strode away, leaving behind a scene of bewilderment and amusement.
As I retreated into the sanctuary of my thoughts, my phone pinged, drawing my attention to a message from Tom. Memories of the night flooded back, the first time I sought solace in his company. Tucking my phone away, I trudged towards my dorm, the weight of uncertainty heavy upon my shoulders.

As I approached my dorm, a familiar figure caught my eye. Enzo sat there, patiently waiting for me, a bottle of wine in his hand. "Enzo, you dog," I teased, attempting to lighten the heavy atmosphere that weighed upon me. He shrugged nonchalantly, rising to his feet and pulling me into a comforting embrace.
But as his arms wrapped around me, the floodgates opened, and tears began to stream down my cheeks uncontrollably. "You're fine," Enzo murmured, resting his chin on my head as he allowed me to cry, the warmth of his presence offering solace in the midst of my turmoil. And so, I let the tears flow, releasing all the pent-up emotions that had been building inside me.
After what felt like an eternity, I pulled back, managing a weak smile through my tear-streaked face. "Thanks," I whispered, my voice barely above a whisper. With a gentle push, Enzo ushered me towards the door, his silent understanding guiding me forward. "Just come on, I stole the good stuff," he joked, attempting to lighten the mood as we entered the room.
I grabbed a pair of oversized sweats and climbed onto my bed, seeking refuge in its comforting embrace. Enzo wasted no time in setting up a makeshift movie night, complete with wine and popcorn. As he turned on the movie, I nestled against him, resting my head on his chest, finding comfort in the steady rhythm of his heartbeat.
As the movie played on, I felt the weight of my words lingering on my lips, the truth I had been avoiding finally ready to be spoken. "I'm going to break up with him," I whispered, my voice barely audible above the sound of the movie. Enzo stirred beneath me, causing me to sit up and face him directly.
"Excuse me?" he questioned, his brow furrowing in concern. "Viktor... I never loved him," I confessed, the words hanging heavily in the air between us. Enzo's hand reached up to cradle my face gently, his touch offering reassurance in the face of uncertainty.
"In the future, are we still this close?" he asked, his voice filled with a quiet desperation. I grasped his hand tightly in mine, feeling the weight of his question bearing down on me. "No," I admitted, the reality of our future apart looming large in my mind. "I hadn't seen you in three years... you lived in China," I added, the memory of our time apart still fresh in my mind.
"China, so random," Enzo mused, the irony of our reunion not lost on him. But before he could say more, a knock at the door interrupted our conversation, pulling us back to the present. We exchanged a glance, a silent understanding passing between us, before I rose to answer it.
Opening the door, I found Tom standing on the other side, his presence casting a shadow over the room. Our eyes met, and for a moment, time seemed to stand still

As Tom stood before me, his presence both familiar and unsettling, I couldn't help but feel a surge of conflicting emotions wash over me. "Tom, why... Tom," I stammered, my voice wavering with the weight of unspoken truths and unresolved feelings. But before I could gather my thoughts, he reached out, pulling me close to him in a tight embrace.
I could smell the scent of alcohol on his breath, mingling with the faint aroma of wine that still clung to my own skin. As he released me, his gaze fell upon Enzo sitting on the bed, his expression unreadable. "Sorry, I..." he began, his words trailing off as he glanced back and forth between us before hastily retreating from the room.
I watched him go, a whirlwind of emotions churning within me, before I felt a sudden surge of determination. Without a second thought, I dashed after him, my heart pounding in my chest as I chased him down the hallway. "Wait," I called out, grabbing his arm as he stopped in front of his door, his body tense with anger and frustration.
But before I could speak, he turned, pinning me against the wall with a fierce intensity that left me breathless. "Enzo, you are screwing Enzo," he growled, his voice laced with a dangerous edge that sent a shiver down my spine. "Are you serious?" I demanded, pushing against his chest in a futile attempt to create some distance between us.
"Yes," he growled, his eyes flashing with a mixture of anger and desire. "No, you asshole," I retorted, my voice trembling with a mixture of fear and defiance. But he refused to budge, his face inching closer to mine until our lips met in a searing kiss that left me reeling.
After what felt like an eternity, he finally pulled away, leaving me stunned and breathless. "Fuck you, Tom," I spat, pushing past him and fleeing back to the safety of my room. As I reached the door, I felt a surge of relief wash over me as I saw Enzo standing there, his arms open and waiting.
Without a word, I rushed into his embrace, seeking solace in the warmth of his arms. He held me close, his touch offering a sense of comfort and reassurance in the midst of the chaos that surrounded us. And as we walked back into the room together, I knew that no matter what the future held, I could always count on him to be there for me.
As I settled into his embrace, the tension of the evening slowly began to melt away, replaced by a sense of peace and contentment. And as exhaustion finally claimed me, I closed my eyes and let myself drift off to sleep, safe and secure in the arms of my best friend.
