"Relax, Aesop. They won't bite you."

"I'm not good with people unlike you..."

They grey-haired man grasped the fabric of his

"And yet you answer most comments regarding your books with ease."

"That's different... I don't actually need to speak when behind a screen..."

"Come on, you want them to do a good job, right? Just a word will suffice. Look, they're done with the recording."

Heavens, if one day Aesop knew he would be stuck in such a situation, maybe he would have refused his book to be published, followed by an adaptation of his work. His heart wasn't ready to meet so many people at once but the black woman behind him just pushed his back so he could be face to face with the first voice actor coming out from the recording room. Unluckily, his foot got tangled with a cable on the ground, making him trip and fall on a man who let out a small gasp at the shock.

"A-Are you alright?"

A cold sweat rushed through his spine as he yanked himself away from the tall man and waved his hands in a panic as a sort of way to apologise.

"I'm very sorry-"

"No, it's okay-"

Seeing how the two men seemed to struggle to engage in a conversation, the woman who initially stood behind Aesop walked up and put a hand on his shoulder.

"Sorry, he was just a bit too enthusiastic to meet you. I'm Patricia Dorval, his editor and also one of the people who will lead the project."

Aesop cursed at her under his breath, who was enthusiastic for what-

"Oh, so you must be the author! I really love your works, I'm quite a fan I must say... I read all of them starting from your short stories-" realising he was getting a bit too excited, the brown-haired man cleared his throat and held out his hand, "Sorry, I forgot to introduce myself... My name is Eli Clark, you can call me Eli. I'm the one who voices the protagonist so I hope I will meet your expectations."

This guy was rather talkative, thought Aesop, but he didn't seem like a bad guy... Quite the opposite he must say... Tall, slender though he could see through the fabric of his blazer that his arms were fairly muscular, and bright blue eyes radiating eagerness. He wasn't gonna lie, this man was totally his type but for nothing he would ever admit it out loud.

"Is that so... I'm quite honoured, I don't know what to say, I can't wait to see the end of this project."

Aesop awkwardly shook Eli's hand before retreating his arm to his side right after.

Eli's smile made Aesop's ears heat up - a simple move from him was really lethal. After this first interaction, Aesop had to exchange a few words with the other actors reluctantly. He was exhausted by the end of the whole social bazaar and was looking forward to going home, but Patricia seemed determined to hold him by the collar today.

"We're going to the restaurant to strengthen ties, team building you know the drill, you're coming aren't you?"

"What- Don't you think I've done enough already..."

"For once you're getting out of your house, I think you should try to make more friends."

"We're more like colleagues, how could we be friends..."

"Am I to understand that all those years spent together since kindergarten mean nothing?"

"Ugh, you know that's not what I mean."

Patricia rolled her eyes with a smile as she punched him lightly in the shoulder. Even if he didn't show it often, Aesop was truly grateful for everything the young woman had done for him. Sometimes she didn't mince her words, but he knew it was for his own good, and it turned out every time that her advice paid off in the end.
