Surveyor x Trickster

It's kinda heated at some point but istg it's not smut

____

A feeling of satisfaction filled him as he pulled on his silk gloves. He always felt a kind of escalating excitement before one of his heists, the same kind of adrenaline when you get close to the top of a roller coaster just before it falls.

He had to admit, his job may have been ethically questionable, but there had to be a balance between right and wrong in this world, and in this one, he had chosen crime.

A notorious thief whose face, name and voice were unknown to the media and the police, Trickster.

Everyone did not know how the thief accomplished his misdeeds, but the only traces he left were unfortunately only false leads, for which law enforcement agencies kept falling for.

However, the reason Trickster was a master of his craft was that he was not the only mastermind behind the whole operation.

It was someone much more powerful and whom no one would ever suspect, Count D.M.

He was the one who provided the funds as well as the material and Trickster was in charge of going on the field with the help of some people. Well... Due to certain circumstances, it was only him now. Apparently there were some misunderstandings, although he found it hard to believe.

But anyway, to get back to the present, Trickster was still about to commit a theft.

However, it was also the last one.

He had been working for D.M. for a few years already and he paid him graciously as his employer every time so their professional relationship was not the problem but the young man just thought that his time as a thief was coming to an end.

Nevertheless, he received one last request from D.M. regarding a particularly rare jewel that would be on display at an auction that very evening. As a sign of their long friendship, Trickster accepted, and it wasn't just because the bounty this time was so exorbitant that he would be able to live quietly for the rest of his life.

One last hit wouldn't do him any harm anyway.

That was what he firmly believed.

Until he arrived at the auction house and was greeted by a familiar figure he would have preferred never to see again, let alone as a former colleague now working as a security guard for the very place he was about to rob.

Right now, potential buyers were still enjoying the appetizers in the waiting room. Trickster approached one of the waiters to grab a flute of champagne before leaning against a pillar a little further away.

He took a long sip of his drink while counting to ten in his head and...

"Aesop, can we talk for a moment?"

Here he came, just as expected. Trickster lifted his empty glass to look at the few golden drops left in it before giving it to a waiter passing by then turning to the cloaked man beside him. He still had that weird thing hiding his eyes it seemed.

Now... This was the crucial moment. Following technically his reason, he would be expected to refuse his offer and give up on the man permanently. It was the most logical thing to do. Yet, something deep in his heart swayed his judgment and he nodded his head to indicate that he should lead the way to a place out of sight.

The male acknowledged and led him to a more secluded hallway where no one seemed to be crossing. There was a long silence between the two of them for a moment and then the one with the long black coat turned to meet him. Having him standing in front of him seemed to have a completely different effect on Trickster now and he wondered why he had made a decision that went against his so-called morals.
