Nikos POV

Me and the rest of the beta squad were all chilling in the living room. It was New Year's Eve and we were of course staying up til the new year. This is my first new year in 4 years without a kiss. Me and my girlfriend broke up in June and we had been together for 4 years so it was very hard. I was starting to get over it slightly until Christmas and new year rolled around. I hadn't spent them alone in a very long time. Of course I'm not technically alone I have my friends but it's not the same. I was lost in thought until I heard someone call my name

"Niko??" I turned around to see Elli waving her hand at me, trying to get my attention.

"Oh yeah sorry" I replied, I have no idea how long she's been calling me

"You okay?" She asked me. Usually I would just say yeah no matter how I'm feeling but I always know the one person I can be true to is Elli. Plus even if I was to lie and say yeah she would know I'm lying.

"Yeah just a bit lonely" I replied

"I feel you, it's always so hard watching you all with your girlfriends while I'm just sat here on my own" she agreed with me, it wasn't her trying to make it about herself, she was just honestly relating to me

"Well we have eachother this year" I said, smiling as her smile faded.

The countdown had started...

Before I could even think about it, I grabbed Elli's face and pulled her in, smashing my lips against hers. We both pulled away and she looked down.

"HAPPY NEW YEAR!!" Everyone shouted as they pulled apart.

"Sorry El I just-" she cut me off

"No Niko it's fine" she giggled

Honestly I've had a thing for Elli for a couple months now, I never did anything about it tho because I was still getting over my ex.

Elli's POV

As everyone started counting down and getting ready to kiss their partners, I got upset. Well I wouldn't call it upset actually but it's just lonely, watching everyone with their girlfriends each year whilst I just sit and watch. I felt bad for Niko too, his first new year in what feels like forever without a girlfriend to spend it with. As I was just thinking, everyone shouted one and pulled eachother in for a kiss. Suddenly I felt someone's lips against mine. I was shocked, I wasn't expecting it.

We both pulled away and I looked up, seeing Niko smiling down at me. I mean who else could it have been really?

He started apologising but I cut him off, telling him it was all okay. It really was. I've liked Niko for a while now but I couldn't ever say anything because he had a girlfriend. Even now they have broken up, I know he's still getting over her so I don't wanna say anything. The kiss probably didn't mean anything to him anyway maybe it was just because we both felt lonely...
