Ayesha.

"Mumma, you called me?" I peeked inside her room to find her oiling her pretty, long hair and she looked at me confused

"No...?" She replied
"Nevermind. I came by myself." I stepped inside and she chuckled

"Why did you take a leave today?" She asked me and I shrugged
"I had to go somewhere and I just returned, right?" I replied and her formed an 'o'

"Something related to work?" She asked me again and I nodded positively as I sat down on the floor before her and kept my head on her lap.

"You know, it was my parents' death anniversary a day before yesterday." I told her and heard a pin drop silence

"You... Are you okay?" She asked me and I looked before I nodded positively

"Of course, maa." I replied looking up at her and saw her eyes moist
"Why did you not tell this to me?" She asked me and I looked away

"I am sorry. I was just-"
"It's ok." She said and pecked me on my forehead and I felt a warm tear trickling down from my eye

"Arey! Why are you crying? I did not say anything, did I?" She looked baffled and worried just like her son would have been and I smiled before I hugged her to her waist

"Thank you, mumma." I whispered and she caressed my hair
"Did you ever thank your mother for loving you, Ayesha?" She asked me and I nodded negatively but I got her point

"Still, she was there just for a short span." I reminded her and she looked at me with sad eyes but somehow smiled
"You are a cunning girl." She said and I chuckled

We talked for hours and I helped her with her hair while I told her about my week including my therapy and excluding everything related to my husband. Just as supportive she is, she supported my decisions of therapy.

"Ayesha.", She called me as I laid my head on her lap
"Don't lie and tell me what actually brought you here." She demanded and I closed my eyes feeling that disgust crawled back in my gut

"Maa..." I sat up straight and looked at her with furrowed eyebrows
"What kind of a boy Prateek is?" I asked her, trying to decipher what image that boy has in this house and if Rehaan would trust me with this. Of course he would but... That's still his brother.

"He's a good boy. Speaks less but minds his own business, why? Did he do something?" She asked me and uncertainty clawed my heart in it's clutches

"Oh." My shoulder slumped and bike rose to my throat and I felt suffocated
"What's wrong, bacche?" She cupped my face in a nodded negatively

"I was... just curious." I mumbled and she nodded but her expression told me that she didn't buy it

"I think I should go and get my work done." I whispered and she nodded allowing me to leave and a I rushed out to reach my room fast
