We were eating jollof rice for breakfast when mom announced her birthday that was coming in three days. I even forgot her birthday! Jesus what kind of child was I?

"Your dad is coming back from the UK tomorrow" Mom said and Tina choked on the water she was drinking

Fuck! Life was going to be hard for us starting from tomorrow cause the first thing dad will ask for is your result...like who does that? My dad is a strict man it was like he hated us sometimes... he only had a soft spot for mom.... He is the COO of a business in the UK and he was coming back tomorrow 😩 When was the last time I saw him sef? Last year?

"Why?!! Can't you go to the UK instead?" Aaron my brother asked
"Hey! shut up...Don't you miss your dad? Besides I'm turning 44 in three days can't I  at least celebrate with family?"
"So I'm having a birthday dinner, you guys can invite your friends and their parents, don't invite more than 7 friends and their parents, and Tyra make sure to invite that Malik and his parents" She said

And I rolled my eyes at that statement...She probably wants to brag to her friends about knowing Malik's mom.

"Who's Malik?" Aaron asked
"Y'know that Malik actor kid now" Tina replied
"That kid? Serious? Tyra you know him?"
"Yeah he attends my school" I replied

Lemme apprise you guys on what had happened the past 3 days,
Dad came home 2 days ago and it was really awkward because we were scared of engaging in a conversation with him. It was basically just him and mom performing love under the mango tree, if you dunno what that means they were simply been romantic and making me cringe so hard, It was weird to see your Nigerian parents being all romantic, were they expecting a baby or something?

I'm not interested in getting a younger sibling tho. No one can be more annoying than me ever. Anyways I sent the invitations to Tofunmi, Selena, Noel, Niyi, Olayinka and Malik and told them to bring their parents too. So since we needed clothes despite ones in our wardrobes Dad gave us his credit card to go shopping, one card for Aaron and one for me and Tina. Mom said we must wear something similar so she said we should wear red. So yeah today was the dinner party and the party would start in an hour. While mom was getting ready upstairs with her makeup artist  me and Tina were decorating the house while Aaron was arranging the food and stuff when we were done I decided to get ready, I wore my eye liner, mascara and lipgloss and chose a simple red gown from the shopping bags when Tina barged in holding a dress.

"You're not wearing that change to this"
"The one I'm wearing is simple and I like it"
"You're not going to be wearing that when Malik is coming over" Tina said handing me the gown and I reluctantly wore it

And to be honest it was way better than what I chose, simple and sexy, but it was wine not red but who cares?

"Now that's what I'm talking about!" Tina said squealing
"He's going to love this Tyra!"
"He's dating Selena"
"Oh"
"Why did you not shoot your shot before Selena did?" Tina said rolling her eyes
"Just pray they break up"
"Tina!" I yelled
"What?" She yelled back

She then proceeded to tie my hair.

"Who's with the other half?" She asked
"What?"
"The other half of that necklace" Tina said pointing to the necklace Malik gave me 3 days ago
"Malik"
"Are you sure the guy is into Selena? The guy is obviously into you" She said as she introduce a pin into my hair
"He's not he wants us to stay friends"
"Do you like him?"
"Hurry with my hair!" I yelled while she styled my baby hair
"Why don't you want to answer?"
"Tina...just hurry the guests will soon arrive!" I said as I sighed
"You can't fool me" She said as she turned me to my mirror and I smiled at my reflection, I looked beautiful.
