Chief?

By the time Aaron found the Chief he had lost a lot of blood. Aaron checked his pulse. It was weak, but there.

“Hold on chief…I’ll get you some help.”

They were all back in the city before dark. Aaron didn’t want any surprise shots fired at him from his home so he tucked his family and friends away at his mother's. Once he had installed everyone safely at his childhood home, lectured them to be safe and use caution, and made it to the hospital normal visiting hours were over. The hospital was quiet. He was sitting in the hall on a really uncomfortable chair, drinking coffee that could only be hailed as worse than the departments, waiting for the doctor to let him know how the chief was.

Aaron had only ever referred to Police Chief Kirk O’Conner as Chief since starting with the department. He’d been there long enough now that everyone else called him Chief too. When he had first started with the department a few of the more disrespectful cops referred to him as ‘Kirk the jerk’ but Aaron had slammed a few of the bigger ones into a locker or two and now it was unheard of for the chief to be called anything but well… Chief.

Aaron was aware that his boss had a crush on his mother. Why not? She was still a very beautiful woman. He also knew it wouldn’t go anywhere. His mom was still stuck on his dad and Aaron couldn’t be happier about that. If the Chief had his way, Aaron would feel like he had to quit the department or at the very least transfer. Still, Aaron would regret teasing Bossman about liking his mom if he didn’t make it out of this alive. He fell to wondering if this was how it was for the boss and his mom while he was lying in the operating room at death's door. “No more death. Ok God?” He pleaded. He liked his life exactly how it was. Lex had made enough change to the comfortable life they all lived by meeting Jackson! ♣️
