Jackson left the hospital feeling like he could fly. She was going to come and stay. His thoughts began to fill with memories of the time they had spent together. She was the warmest person he knew. Jackson walked through the parking lot. As he hit the curb he pulled change from his pocket for the paper box. He grabbed a paper and walked down to the bus stop. Whistling to himself he waited in line with the two other people there. The elderly gentleman frowned at him and moved down the street a little muttering something about the respectability of today’s youth. The lady moved closer and smiled. Jackson smiled back a little warmer than he had intended because he was remembering the feeling of contentment hovering around him. When the lady moved closer still Jackson scowled and decided to walk the few blocks to the subway.

Once on the train, he relaxed a little again. He was glad to have been able to spend the two weeks with her at the hospital. Holding her, and comforting her had been one of the most satisfying experiences in his life. Playing with her, teasing her was the most enjoyment he’d had for a long time. She made him feel strong, smart, and sexy. He had to admit to himself that he was more than a little in love with her.

She was very beautiful and he was extremely attracted to her. In fact, keeping his hands off her was becoming both difficult and painful. But it was more than even that. He couldn’t explain it other than to say that she was perfect. Her humour, her love of life, her sparkle, and even her humility were all qualities that he loved about her. That and she loved the Lord too made her truly perfect.

Jackson had known many very beautiful women in his life. He had even dated a few. Most of them didn’t care a fig for anyone or anything other than their own comfort. A few were interested in something other than themselves but they just didn’t do anything for him. She was different in so many ways that counting them would take a while. He wasn’t even sure he could put his finger on it. It was like she was one of the guys but was also every guy’s vision of the perfect Sports Illustrated bathing beauty mixed in with a healthy dose of humanitarian. He had already told his mother all about her which led to a very harassing phone call from his little sister about wedding bells. The architect firm he was currently consulting for was busy hammering out details that were relevant to the continued building of their project but not at all relevant to him, so he found himself with extra time to spend with her. Time that he had craved but could not get his fill of. It was like being hungry but no amount of food satisfied you. He felt silly waxing on about it. Like a callow youth high on his first love affair but he couldn’t help it. He just wanted to see her all the time. Talk about her all the time. Touch her all the time. She just felt at home and the fact that that didn’t scare the heck out of him, scared the heck out of him. ♦️
