Theo had been chain smoking all week, which I couldn't help but worry about but every time I asked him if anything was wrong he'd brush me off and would look quite annoyed.

This morning we were in potions, a class Theo excelled at most days, but today his hands let a very important ingredient slip onto the floor causing Snape to snap at him. Theo's hands were shaky and he couldn't properly cast a cleaning spell so he got a rag and began to wipe up the bottle's contents.

I knelt down to help him but whispered sharply in his ear, "Theo are you high right now!??"

"And a little drunk," he said, smirking at me. "Oh my god, get out of here, I'll find you later." I replied.

Snape asked me why Theo walked out of class and I made up an excuse about him having food poisoning from today's breakfast. All day I worried about him, and finally after my study hall I was able to leave early and look for him. I searched his usual smoking spots but instead found him sitting under a tree near dusk on the outskirts of the castle grounds.

Not wanting to disturb the silence he found, I sat next to him and watched the sun set quietly.

He finally spoke after a long while "she died today."

I quickly realized he was talking about his mother who died a couple years ago. I knew this year was going to be extra hard on him since his father was in Azkaban for being a death eater. I felt my heart drop for him, my beautiful wonderful boyfriend had lost enough in this world and yet he pushed himself in school and Quidditch and anything else he put his mind to.

I took his hand softly and asked him quietly "tell me something about her."

"When dad got angry at us, my mother would take me into her room and we would read... I remember one day it was really bad and he'd stormed out which meant we'd had the whole house to ourselves. She read me Peter Pan, we turned the lights down and she let me curl up on her lap even though I was seven. We sat by the fire and made hot chocolate as she read to me. I still remember the way she smelled, like nutmeg and Christmas spices." Theo started to choke up at the end and I could tell he had tears rolling down his cheeks but I made sure to keep my eyes on the deep purple sky as the sun sank.

We sat in silence for a while longer but the air started to get cold, "Let's go to your dorm, my roommates are loud today." I didn't actually mind them but I didn't want to leave Theo alone.

"Okay." He said softly, he seemed not to trust himself to say more.

As we walked up to the castle Theo held my hand tightly and as we descended the stairs to his dorm I couldn't help but steal a glance at him. His eyes were glistening with forgotten tears, his nose was pink from the cold and the corridors lanterns lit his face in golden light.

When we got to his Prefects dorm he went to the bathroom to shower and I collapsed on his bed. I looked at the familiar framed picture of him and his mother on his dresser. She was beautiful like Theo and her eyes shone brilliant green. She wore a matching smile next to her son who was very interested in a book in his hands.

As the shower turned off I heard Theo breathing more heavily than usual, I knew he didn't like me seeing him cry but I couldn't help myself and I knocked on the door softly.

No answer, and so against my better judgment I opened the door carefully. My boyfriend was leaning on the sink looking in the mirror, I watched my reflection approach him, "are you okay," I cringed at the lack of helpfulness my words held.

"My mother is dead, my father is gone and I have no one to love me." He said helplessly into the mirror in which we stood.

I got closer to him and tentatively wrapped my arms around his waist looking into his eyes in the reflection of the mirror whose edges still held fog. "I know your parents aren't here, and it may not give you as much comfort... but I'm still here and ... I love you." "I love you deeply Theo, and I'm not going anywhere."

Theo whimpered and let the tears roll down his face, he turned in my arms so that I held his chest, he wrapped his arms around me and let out a breath he had been holding in. "I need you, you mean so much to me I can't lose you too, please don't let me lose you." he gasped between words clinging to me.

I hugged him back tightly, "I need you too Theo, I need you too."

We eventually climbed into bed and he laid between my legs holding my waist in his arms, our breathing patterns began to match and I combed his hair with my nails. "I'll never let you go Theodore. I promise."
