You bit on your pencil, bored as shit as your english professor kept blabbering nonsense. You were tired, exhausted. You had barely gotten 3 hours worth of sleep because you had gotten in an argument with your mom the day before. The only thing keeping you alive was a cup of coffee and you felt like you were on the brink passing out. You had no idea what the professor was saying, but it didn't matter, you weren't listening whatsoever. The only person you were focusing on was her.

Tara Carpenter.

She's mesmerizing. Like an angel that had descended from heaven. It was like all your problems had faded away as soon as you landed eyes on her. She was your english, chemistry, and math partner that somehow was paired up with you when you first moved to this school. When you first met her, you knew that you guys instantly clicked. Well first of all, you guys loved movies and could never stop talking about them. You both had the same music taste, sometimes she'd tap you on your shoulder and offer you an earbud, which you'd gratefully take and poke it in your ear. Of course you weren't the closest with her at first, small talk here and there, giggling during lectures, or she'd wave to you during lunch break and you'd wave back. But as time grew, you were someone who she trusted and you knew you felt the same, she was someone you'd always try to protect. But every time you saw her, smiling at you, you couldn't help but fall for her harder.

Literally fall for her. You fell one time because you couldn't stop staring at her as you rode your bike around the campus. Your eyes were glued on her and how she read the book in her hand so peacefully. Your eyes were following her that they didn't lay on the fact that there was a huge tree in front of you. Causing your bike to crash and yourself to fall on the grass. Thankfully she didn't notice since you slipped away just in time to clean yourself up.

As the teacher went on and on about a new upcoming project, all you could think about was Tara. How she hummed softly when listening to her music. Or the way she'd twist her rings around her finger gracefully, her hair shining, even through the dim-lit classroom.

You could swear you were in a trance that you couldn't help but not hear the faint noise of someone calling your name.

"Y/N?"

It felt like you were floating, shiny bubbles flying everywhere, it was like you were in slo-motion. Until you felt a soft tap on your shoulder and someone cup your ear, whispering in it.

"Earth to Y/N!! What's on your mind?" It was Tara.

You flinched a bit as you snapped out of your trance, taking a deep breath. You looked at her, your face flustered with embarrassment. You gave her a quick nod and mumbled an apology as you stared at your notes. She was giggling softly, giving you a small nudge.

"Huh? Oh sorry.. Just.. tired and thinking, this is boring and I didn't get a lot of sleep last night, I'm fine though.." It wasn't a full lie, you just excluded the part where you were full on staring at her.

Her smile softened a little, it was sympathetic. She nodded in understanding as you both looked down to your notes. You tapped your pencil against the desk, fidgeting with it as your eyes twitched across the classroom. There was no way you would make it through the day without sleeping. Tara must've noticed as you noticed she grabbed your notes quietly and scribbling on it.
