Chapter 10

SOFIA'S POV

I grabbed my purse and parked my car in the parking lot. I sighed in relief when I saw a convenient store. I'm literally in nowhere, I didn't even know how I got here. Pagbaba ko ay pumasok agad ako sa loob. I saw the man at the counter chewing his gum boredly while watching something on his phone.

I was struggling to open the refrigerator due to my car keys, purse, phone, and a freaking bag of chips.

Pagbukas ko ng pinto ng ref ay nahulog ang lahat na hawak ko kaya napapikit ako sa inis. I screamed in frustration mentally. I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself. I'm not even in my time of the month but my mood keeps changing.

Yeah, I know. Women.

"Fucking dumb bitch." Bulong ko habang pinupulot ang gamit ko sa sahig.

I heard the other refrigerator opened. I saw a black boots from my view. Tumingala ako at may nakita akong babae na umiinom ng tubig. Her eye was staring at me as if she's judging my whole existence.

My cheeks burned in crimson when I realized I have been talking to myself all this time. I look like a crazy woman who's picking a fight with the refrigerator's door. I noticed the eye patch on her left eye, I swallowed hard.

Her eye shifted away from me. Pinunasan niya ang labi niya gamit ng manggas ng black jacket niya.

"I'm not from a mental hospital, I assure you. This ref is just being dumb." Those words came out of my mouth, I don't even know why I'm talking to a stranger.

She remained silent. She looks bored and emotionless and me existing in her life seems a distraction for her. Nananatili pa rin siya tumitingin ng pagkain sa paligid niya at di ako pinapansin.

My jaw dropped. No one has ignored me like that.

Pumunta na ako sa counter at binayaran ang mga pinamili ko. Hinintay ko ilagay ng lalaki ilagay ang pagkain sa brown bag. Napunta ang atensyon ko sa TV.

"Tumaas ang kaso ng kidnapping sa buwan na 'to, Ted. Hanggang ngayon ay ini-imbestigahan ng awtoridad ang pangyayari. Ngunit ayon sa bagong labas na statement ay meron itong koneksyon sa murder cases na nangyari nitong noong linggo. Ang mga magulang ng mga kinuhang kabataan ay humihingi ng tulong sa gobyerno. Bagong kaso ng kidnapping ang natanggap ng awtoridad ngayon araw, si Kelly ay pinaniniwalaang na-kidnap sa tapat ng convenient store."

I was shocked when I found out that the place stated on the news was the same place I was currently at. Sumilip ako sa labas at nakita ko ang mga sasakyan ng pulis na hindi kalayuan dito.

Goodness, the kidnapping happened an hour ago before I got in this store. That explains why I saw a police officer left in this place a while ago.

"Did they catch the suspect?" I asked the worker in front of me. He gave me a bored expression.

"Hindi." Masungit na saad nito.

I let out a sigh.

"Oh poor girl, I hope she's safe." I bit my bottom lip. Nabigla ako nang may naglapag ng dalawang plastic bottle at isang pack ng bubble gum sa harap ko. I stilled when I felt a body behind me, it was the woman with an eye patch.

Umalis ako sa pila since nakabayad na ako.

I wonder if Leigh knew about this case, she's known as the best lawyer in the town. That poor girl must be panicking right now. I don't really get why people kidnap kids nowadays as if they didn't experience being a child too. Paano kung gawin rin sa kanila yon nung bata pa sila?

"Kaya mag-ingat ka sa daan, madam. Hindi mo alam ang mga tao nakakasalamuha mo. Maganda ka pa naman, baka ikaw ang sunod mapanood sa TV." Natatawang sabi ng lalaki kaya natigilan ako.
