The family entered the ballroom through a large opening engraved with dark oak.

"Ah! The Snow's have arrived, what wonderful timing!"

Cornelius Fudge approached them and greeted the family. Not far behind them was who he had been talking to, the Malfoy's.

"Good evening Minister." Venus said with a curtsey as she was the last to receive a handshake.

"Ms.Snow! So good to see you again! I do hope you brought your pipes!"

"Of course Sir. I hope you'll enjoy them."

"Tell me, how are your magical studies faring? With your father's magic in you I'm sure your making great strides."

"In my studies yes, with my magic not so much Sir, I'm sorry to say I don't quite have the talent to control it." She replied somberly with a side stare to her mother.

"That's a shame, quite a shame- well I'm sure you'll get the hang of it soon enough."

And with that the older man walked off to greet another family. The Malfoy's quickly took his place, greeting the family with warm hugs.

"Draco!"

"Venus! You look great!"

"Thank you, courtesy of Willow, as per usual."

The blonde cleared his throat and adjusted his tie.

"So what was that about."

"What do you mean?"

"Oh come on, we both know your more than perfect with your ma-"

"Shhhh..." Venus hushed him quickly and pulled him aside as their parents talked. "Dance with me."

"Wha- alright."

They joined the lineup of waltzers and spun around gracefully.

"I need you to promise me you won't tell people about my magic. If they ask I'm bloody terrible at it."

The blonde boy looked at her confused but with a smirk. He dipped her and whispered.

"Done, and watch the language Princess."

"How wonderful!" The pair jumped and broke apart at the loud noise. The Minister bustled over and they bowed and curtsied. "You two are made for each other. Ms.Snow, would you like to take the stage?"

No. "Yes Sir."

Draco led her away by the arm towards the foot of the small stage platform. She flicked her wand and a guitar case appeared.

"I'll see you soon?"

"Save me a dance." She replied, taking out the instrument and walking up the steps. A small stool was placed by a house elf in front of a microphone as she approached the stand. She elegantly sat on the seat and held the guitar to her chest.

"Good evening everyone. I hope this party has been delightful for all of you. Thank you to the Minister of Magic for this opportunity, please enjoy."

The room of pureblooded families clapped and looked at her with judgmental smiles.

Venus looked for her mom in the crowd and gave her a small smile, which the woman returned. She started to finger pluck the chords into a beautiful rhythm as she sang.

"Now I've heard there was a secret chord. That David played and it pleased the Lord

But you don't really care for music do you?..."

She started to strum gently.

"Well it goes like this. The fourth, the fifth, the minor fall and the major lift. The baffled king composing Hallelujah..."

The last word rung out like honey in her voice, melting the ears of anyone who listened.

"Hallelujah...Hallelujah...Hallelujah...Hallelu...jah"

Her strumming paused and she returned to picking the strings.

"Your faith was strong but you needed proof. You saw her bathing on the roof. Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you...She tied you to her kitchen chair. She broke your throne and she cut your hair. And from your lips you drew a Hallelujah..."

Draco watched, enamored by her voice and calmness that seeped through the girl. It was rare he'd see this part of her, and he hoped to see it more.

"Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelu...jah"

Venus' expression changed as she continued to sing the lyrics. Her emotions became deeper, singing from her heart and not her gut. Her facial expression became wilder and if you looked at her roots, small silver hairs peeked through her raven locks.

"I did my best, it wasn't much, I couldn't feel, so I tried to touch, I've told the truth, I didn't come to fool you- And even though it all went wrong, I'll stand before the Lord of Song! With nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah!"

Her confidence rose with her tone as someone cheered at her high note and she felt blood rush toher cheeks and her adrenaline skyrocket.

"Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah...Hallelu...jah"

The room clapped and she smiled when she saw her mother wipe away a tear. Venus gave a curtsey and walked off the stage to her parents.

"That was lovely my dear."

"Beautiful Snowflake."

"Absolutely melodical."

She smiled at the complements and thanked the Minister again as he walked away. She excused herself from her parents and the Malfoy's to get a drink, shaking her head at the offer of Draco's arm to escort her.

"It's just a drink."
