Chapter 29 - 2.1 Third Small Star - The Abandoned Wife

A mischievous smile appeared on his face, "Heh~ really~... this will be really fun then..." replied Hei Anjing.

At this moment Hei Anjing will be referred to as Wu Xue. As Wu Xue expected, the nurse brought over the doctor to check on him as well a few related people to him like his husband, Wan Lengya. His best friend, Yue Wuya, as well as the mother of Wan Lengya.

After the doctor finished looking over him, "His heart had stabilized but regarding his fingers..." The doctor peaks towards the patient with a weak heart before continuing to speak.

Wu Xue just gave him a small smile, "I know about it already. There is no need for the doctor to worry about me scaring myself that I could no longer play any instrument."

He spoke nonchalantly as if it were not him who lost the only few things that he treasures and owned. Everyone was surprised by how Wu Xue acted.

"I'm sorry about that Prince Snow." The doctor said with his head lowered.

[A/n: Xue means snow in Chinese. Prince Snow is how Wu Xue was called in Wu Clan.]

"Please don't worry yourself, doctor. I am fine but I would like to stay in the hospital for a few days in this room until the strength on my legs return. If there is nothing more, please go ahead and return to your work." Said Wu Xie with a gentle voice that soothes anyone who hears it.

After hesitating for a moment the doctor observed the sickly prince on the bed and seeing no other problems with regards to his body the doctor left the room after he was allowed to.

During the whole conversation, Wu Xue had never once looked at his so-called husband. After all, that person is a stranger and the protagonist gong. He doesn't wish to dirty his eyes just to see this toy as he is not in the mood to play yet. Even ignoring that observing gaze that fell on him. Once the doctor had left, silence descended in the area and no one was willing to break the ice for them.

Until Wu Xue spoke after taking a deep breath, "Aunt, Wuya, I would like to speak with Lengya alone, please." Wu Xue calls Wan Lengya's mother, aunt since the Wan family doesn't really accept him as their in-law.

The two mentioned people looked at each other than towards the silent Wan Lengya, before preparing to leave the room as Wu Xue requested.

"Xue, I will buy you something to eat. Is there something you wish for me to buy?" Asked Yue Wuya.

"Hm? Macarons please." Replied Wu Xue.

"As his highness wish..." Replied Yue Wuya with a smile before taking leave even dragging Aunt Wan away from Wan Lengya after whispering a few things to him.

As soon as the two left, there was once again silence in the room. Only Wu Xue who is seated on the hospital bed looked at the scenery outside his window. Watching the not completely bloomed plum flowers outside his room.

Spring hasn't arrived yet but the flowers have already started budding. Wu Xue, who doesn't want to look at the protagonist gong, just enjoyed the scenery outside his opened window instead. Wan Lengya just stared at him waiting for him to speak while seating on the couch within the room.

With his slender back facing his husband, "Lengya, do you have someone you love?" Wu Xue asked but didn't even look at Wan Lengya to see his expressions.

Wan Lengya suddenly frowned before thinking how he was supposed to answer only for Wu Xue to speak once again. "The plum flowers had bloomed twice and will be thrice in these few days. So, you must give me an answer regarding that promise 3 years ago."

Wu Xue is talking about three years ago just after they learned that they will be engaged, the original Wu Xue asked Wan Lengya a single question under the plum trees. 'Can you try loving me? I will give you 3 years to decide.' This is Wu Xue's last compromise with Wan Lengya who he had in his heart.

This person waited 3 years intently for this cold-hearted man's answer, only for him to receive a divorce agreement as he opened his eyes losing everything he cares for and treasures which leads for him to end his own life. Wan Lengya was born asexual that's what he also thought so until he met Xing Ran who made his heart beats for the first time. Making him feel some sort of attraction towards the latter but that doesn't mean that Lengya didn't care for Wu Xue. After all only this person treated him like a normal person all his life.

So, even though it is small, Wu Xue occupies a part of this cold man's heart. Lowering his silver eyes with his silver hair flutters as he moves, his neutral emotionless face finally tainted with a frown.

Still not hearing an answer, Wu Xue tried to comfort him with his words, "You shouldn't think too much of my situation. Lengya I can take care of myself." Said Wu Xue.

Hearing those words of comfort, Wan Lengya's heart didn't feel consoled. Instead, he felt uneasiness filling his heart. Even he couldn't understand Wu Xue's usual assuring voice turned extremely gentle in his ears but sounds like a demon tempting him to make a wrong move. He couldn't decide which to follow.

His mind that focuses on his responsibilities as Wu Xue's legal partner or his heart is messy and uncontrolled when he thought of that angelic smile of Xing Ran. In the end, he chose to listen to his heart which skipped a beat once for Xing Ran.

"I...I cannot. I like Xing Ran. Xue'er, I'm sorry." Replied Wan Lengya.

Silence~

There is a short silence until Wu Xue spoke once more, "I see..." he only answered as such but there is no change in the tone of his voice.

Still gentle as always and nice to hear but to Lengya's ears that voice made him hear those tender sounds fills his mind and heart with anxiety. Unable to take back the words he had spoken, Lengya could only shut his mouth in silence.

"Lengya, you should take your leave. A week after, I want you to visit me here to sign the divorce paper I will prepare. Don't worry you'll be free after a week until then you shouldn't visit me."

After that conversation, Aunt Wan and Yue Wuya returned. Seeing that the situation is the same as before they felt relief.

Yue Wuya approached Wu Xue in the bed happily presenting the macarons he was asked to buy, "Xue, I bought it for you." Said Wuya and smiled when Wu Xue moved his gaze to look at him more like at the macaroon in front of him.

Seeing that his eyes were calm as before, not swollen or reddening, nor any hints of crying was found that Wuya was completely relieved. Not even noticing that within those calm eyes was indifference that shows no familiarity to anyone even towards the smiling man before him. Yue Wuya happily opened the box and put the macarons on a small plate before giving them to Wu Xue so he can eat them easily.

On the other hand, Lengya who finally saw his wife's indifferent expression could feel a prick within his chest. Unable to explain or understand, he can only stay soundless while keeping the restlessness that is about to occupy his heart.

Seeing the silly one before him treating him kindly, Wu Xue could only give him his gratitude. "Thank you, Wuya." according to his memories this man is the original's admirer.

Even When Lengya, who finally saw his wife's face which is the same as he remembers but for some unknown reason seeing that calmness towards that beautiful sickly figure on the bed not only made him not feel any familiarity and he felt anxious instead. In his heart, there is something wrong, but he couldn't point out where. He could only frown to express his confusion.
