Conflicting Hearts

Chapter 7

Laila's POV
Those were the maybe best hours of my life recently, William was so gentle and caring and the way he held me in his arms gosh I want more of that, I will definitely say yes whenever he pops the question.

That kiss was somewhat explosive. The parents are somewhere inside waiting to interrogate me.
"I'm home" I yell
"Laila!" Lianna screamed
"Lianna!" I scream too and we burst into a fit of giggles
"I missed you and we haven't spoken since you left your vacation and came home"she spoke
"Well we were both busy, you enjoying your holiday and me taking rest just in time to resume to school" I reply
"True but we can do some catching up now and during the weekend,I won't be going to school till next week" she says
"Okay let's go to my room"

When we reach my bedroom,she shuts the door because that is my number one rule,no leaving the doors open.
"I met a hot guy,Laila and yeah the conversations kept flowing but I can't for the love of me date him"
"Lianna,you don't have his number right?"
"Nope so everything is good"
"I choose to believe you now, Lia but he could chase you all the way here if he really likes you. Just keep that in mind"
"Yeah sure. Who dropped you off?"

"Why do you care?"
"Maybe because you're my elder sister"
"It was William"
"You mean William King?"
"Yeah him. Why?"
"I mean it's William,he is hot definitely not the hottest guy at school but hot all the same"
"Your definition of hot is different from mine"
"Please tell me he isn't hot?"
I don't answer so she keeps glaring at me
"Fine, he's okay I guess"
"Just okay? The smile on your face screams suspicion but whatever"
"I want to take a shower, you'll wait right?"

"It gives me the opportunity to do some things so yeah" Lianna replies

Showering after a long day just brings me some sort of satisfaction,for me it means I'm one step closer to getting some proper rest cause heck I need it after having to deal with so many people. People yeah not my strongest suit but I try hard.

"Lia?"
"I'm still here, what's going on Laila? You're keeping things from me"
"Nothing really, everything is normal"
"But why is there a picture of William's hand latched onto your waist on my phone?"

I guess secrets don't stay secret for long after all but whatever my life my rules yes!

"Lianna it's a misunderstanding. He got a little touchy with me simple,it's me and William what do you expect? There will be subtle flirting always"
"I guess but you're still hiding something"
"All in due time,Lia"
"Let's see about that"
"Love you too sis"
She stood up and left the room but before leaving she called out "Come down in 15, dinner's starting"

I put on some of my more casual but comfortable clothes and left for the dining room descending with little steps.

"Hello people" I greet
They all mumble greetings to me from their seats and yeah everyone is present including my Dad. The amazing Daniel Woods and his signature frown and now I think we know where I got it from

"Laila,you still look a sight. How are you?"
Dad asks
"I'm just the usual,why do you ask?" I reply
"It's a crime for me to ask after my daughter's well-being now" he says
"What do you want,Dad? You asked me whilst not at the dinner table, I have good reason to suspect you" I ask not looking up from my food
"Who dropped you off?" he asks
"Straight to the point I see, it was William to whom it may concern" I tell him
"William? Denise King's son?" He queries further
"Yes and I don't understand why you asked"
"No reason you may carry on with your dinner,I have certain calls to make. Lucia please get Maria to send my dinner to my office" he replies
"She will" my mom speaks

We carry on eating in silence and as I turn to leave when I'm done,my mom calls me aside
"Laila" she calls
"Mother" I reply
"What is William to you?" she asks
"William and I are friends" I tell her with a steely gaze
"You have that look in your eyes" she says
"What look?" I ask
