Chapter 5

A new day is a new beginning right? So, all the cadets woke up in the morning begrudgingly and went straight towards the ground.
Alekh was already present there.
"Cadets. Today is a new day. A clean slate. So, today, I want you all to forget about your past mistakes. It doesn't matter what you all were outside these four walls of the academy. You may have been a topper, a pro athlete, a cool guy, a nerdy geek, whatever. I just don't care about it. All I care about, is what you all are, right here. Isliye mujhe yahan na kisi topper ko dekhna hai... na cool guy... na pro athlete. Mujhe yaha sirf aur sirf is desh ke sachche sipahiyo ko dekhna hai. This is your first lesson in this drill ground. I would be glad agar aap sab mein se, har din drill mein, koi first ya second aye to. But what I would love more is ki roz first ya second ane wale chehre alag ho. Because remember, zindagi mein har jung sirf aatmavishwas ke balbute par ladi jaati hai... or jeeti bhi jaati hai. So believe in yourselves cadets. Because I believe in you all. Got it?
"Yes sir..."
"Mujhe aap sab ki awaz nahin aayi... Is. It. Clear. Cadets ??!!"
"Yes. SIR......" They all yelled back with equal energy. Their sleep was long gone now.
Naina was jogging on the running track when she heard Alekh. After hearing Rajveer Sir's dialogue, Naina just smiled ruefully and resumed her jogging. But suddenly, a gunshot echoed in KMA.
The cadets clearly unprepared, somewhat panicked. After all, the session just started. This was their first ever class after coming to the academy.
"Class is dismissed." And Alekh ran towards the sound.
"Alekh.... yahan...." Naina groaned from the ground.
Alekh immediately went pale after seeing Naina on the ground.
"Nainaaaaaa....."
Till then, Abhimanyu, Brigadier Chandok, the rest of the super 6 and Dr. Shalini ran outside.
Abhimanyu reached her first.
"Naina, kya hua apko?"
"Are dikhta nahin hai kya? Goli lagi hai use."
"Huda humein pata hai. Hum to...."
"Dude, academy is the safest place. Agar yaha aisa hua hai to..."
"Oh God. Enough is enough. Just move out of my way right now." Shalini yelled and everyone fell silent.
"Tum logo ko argue karna hai to wahan kinare jaa kar karo. Don't stand in my way. Or Naina...."
And everyone looked at Naina who was actually laying in Alekh's lap, completely relax.
"Yar Alekh, thoda sa pair aise kar na. Ye uncomfortable hai. Hai thoda idhar. Han bas ab."
"Aye yedi, tereko goli lagi hai or tere nakhre chal rahe hein idhar."
"Alekh mujhe laga hai na, to meri marzi, kitne bhi nakhre dikhau."
"Aye chup, warna rakh dega apun kaan ke neeche."
"Tu ruk, abhi bhabhi ko batati hu main sab."
"Bhabhiiiiiiiii?????????" The rest of them yelled. While Brigradier and Dr. Shalini just stood there, shaking their heads. And as for Abhimanyu, he just stood, leaning to the wall at the back.
"Kya natak laga rakha hai yaar sabne. Alekh, Naina ko le kar infirmary aao. Or fir turant nikal jana. Mujhe tum logo ki bakwas nahin sunni."

Meanwhile, in unknown location

"Naveen.."
"Riaaaa..."
Ria first went to Naveen.
"Kya hua bhaiya?"
"Yar bachcha, mujhe ghabrahat ho rahi hai. Tu check kar kya hua hai?"
"Naveeeeeennnnnnn...."
"Tujhe nahin lagta jab se ye thik hua hai bahut bak-bak kar raha hai..."
"Naveeeeennnnnn"
"Abe aa raha hua saale.... chal chhoti wahi chalte hain."
They reached towards Raj's room.
"Kya be..."
But they found Raj completely still, somewhat panicked. Rai immediately ran towards him.
"Are you okay? Kya baat hai? Are you feeling uneasy Bhaiya?"
"Han. Mujhe kuchh achha nahin lag raha hai. Mujhe ghabrahat ho rahi hai."
Ria looked back at Naveen.
"Tum use kyun dekh rahi ho?" Raj asked.
"Wo 2 min pehle... Naveen Bhai ne bhi ye hi kaha mujhe."
Then, something clicked in their minds but before they could say anything...
"Naina ko left shoulder par goli lagi hai. It just missed. So nothing to worry about she's okay Naveen and Raj."
And Raj got another shock that day.
"Gunnnyyyyyyy....?????"
"Abe cheekh kyun raha hai tu?" Both Naveen and Gunny said simultaneously.
"Tu yaha kya.... wait a minute. Meri Naina ko goli lagi hai?" Raj exclaimed.
"Teri Naina?" Gunny said.
"Behen wo meri hai... to teri Naina kaisa?" Naveen asked.
"Yar aap sab ajeeb ho. Wahan Naina ko goli lagi hai... aap log apne mein lage ho."
"Right. Let's check the cameras first." Naveen said.
"Mujhe bhi dekhna hai. Please. Ek baar." Raj requested.
"Ruk ja Naveen. Raj. First you see this. Then, we'll tell you something. Only if you are willing to enter into this mission. Only then, we'll disclose it to you." Gunny explained him.
"Of course. You know, anything for the nation." Raj said.
Naveen opened the cameras. Later, he connected to the camera in the infirmary. There, he saw, all the Captains and Dr. Shalini and even Abhimanyu.
Naveen kept staring at Shalini.
"Abhimanyu, although, the wound is not to deep but I am afraid, kahin infection ke chances na ho. There are a lot of cases where the bullets are coated in the toxins."
"Shalini, apko jo karna hai kijiye. I am in my office all the time. If you need anything, just let me know."
Shalini and Abhimanyu were not exactly friends, but they had become better colleagues. Shalini understood that Rajveer's death, took a huge toll on him too.
"Thanks Major."
"No need to thank me Doc. Just let me know." Saying this, Abhimanyu left for his cabin.
"Ma'am ye unknown call ko receive kyun kar rahe ho. Is call ko seedhe block kar dijiye."
"Guys main thik hu. Relax. Thoda sa bas laga hai yar mujhe. Are ma'am, please, bolo na inko. Machchar ki tarah kaan mein halla kar rahe hein."
"Abe machhar kisko bola tune phoolan?"
"Are ek min rukiye aap sab."
"Now what dude?"
"Naina... apne bahar kis bhabhi ki baat ki thi?"
"Oye haan..."
They continued bickering. The noise was so much that the three Majors had to disconnect themselves. They just asked the informer to keep an eye on each and everyone.

"Ye log bhi na..." Raj just smiled, seeing their childish banter.
"To Raj, are you ready?" Gunny asked him, to which, Raj just nodded his head.
Gunny gestured Naveen. Naveen disappeared in another room and came back with a bunch of files.

"It's gonna be a long night" Raj wondered.
