An Unexpected Encounter

"Ready to master those waves?" I asked my best friend, Aaron, while adoring the 5pm warm sun in front of us

"Ready to stalk celebrities?" He asked back putting on his glasses

"Behave yourself, dumbass. The last thing we need is a restraining order"

Finally, after having burned my brain and eyelashes studying for my final year exams, I'm about to enjoy a month full of parties, night walks, sand in my hair, and probably— PROBABLY a chance encounter with some celebrities.

"I'll get some ice cream, do you want?" I asked putting my belongings on the huge towel he spread

"Nah, it's fine, you go. I'll keep an eye on these" He responded sitting crossing his legs

I shrugged and turned around looking for the man selling ice creams. After a couple of kids got their orders, the vendor mentioned all the ice cream flavors he was offering.

When I was already savoring my sundae, I looked back at the sea. There were people playing in the water, a couple of teenagers surfing, children swimming, families enjoying their holidays. But a blow to my head made me lose my focus and my ice cream fell from my hands.

"Jeez! I'm sorry. I'm very, very sorry" I heard a girl saying

I was about to yell at whoever hit me with a ball but when I looked up OH MY GOD, GODDESS SADIE SINK WAS IN FRONT OF ME. 

"I couldn't catch the ball, I didn't mean to hit you" She apologized in verge of collapse

«Honey, you can step on my face and I would appreciate it anyway» Nope, I didn't say that

"It was an accident, it could happen to anyone" I said caressing the back of my head trying to hide the pain. SHIT, IT REALLY HURTS

"But I dropped your ice cream too" She said with her hands on her face. I could say Sadie was red with shame

"It's fine, I wasn't going to eat it after all, it was so... Creamy" What the fuck am I saying? It was so delicious I wanna cry

"You're funny" Sadie replied smiling widely. Holy crap, she thinks I'm funny

«And you're so pretty» Once again, I didn't say it

"And you're so pretty" FUCK, I DID SAY IT. I closed my eyes tightly regretting what I said, I couldn't be more stupid

"I— I didn't— I mean, I didn't wanted to say that. Not that you're not pretty, cause you're gorgeous as fuck—" I lengthened the word realizing what my mouth was letting out "Umh— Fine, yes, you're gorgeous, but I wasn't planning on telling you that" Congratulations, you have broken the scale of self-humiliation

It seemed like she was about to burst out of laughter, guess who's the clown now "I'm Sadie" She offered her hand which I took to shake it, and a precious warm smile. My Lord, she's so gorgeous

"I'm Y/n" I said before Sadie bent down to take the ball "And the love of your life" I mumbled to myself before she got up

"Excuse me?"

"That I— I want to stab myself with a knife... For being so clumsy right now" I spoke, making Sadie snort

"Actually, I'm the clumsy one for hitting you with this" She threw the ball up, catching it almost instantly "Look, I still feel bad, let me make it up"
