"I'm going to give you a choice here, Noah. Because as much as I care for you, I can't add 'taking care of my addict boyfriend' to the stressful list of things I need to do this year. I just can't - it'll break me.
"So, choose. Me or the drugs, Noah?"

Hi there! I'm so glad you decided to check out this book.
First things first, I wanted to mention that His Darkness is a sequel to His Words which has been fully published. An epilogue was published at the same time this chapter was, so make sure to read that first. This story is a continuation of that one and won't make much sense if you haven't already read the first book. Plus, it will include major spoilers, so make sure to check His Words out before you start reading His Darkness.
Secondly, this book (just like the first one in the series) will discuss heavy topics, such as mental health disorders, eating disorders, drug abuse, sexual assault, domestic abuse, self-harm and suicide. Please do not take this trigger warning lightly. If you find any of these themes triggering or distressing, this book might not be for you. If you are going through a rough patch in life and personally experiencing any of the above, I urge you not to read this book and reach out for help if you haven't already.
I will not be putting a trigger warning at the beginning of each chapter.
This book is also super gay and portrays various queer relationships. If that upsets you, fuck you and you can fuck off. With all due respect, which is none.
The book will be split into parts. Each part will belong to a certain character and will be in their POV. At the beginning of each part is a song that relates to the general events of the part, just as a little foreshadowing.
I also wanted to mention that each chapter, just like His Words, will feature a song that was carefully selected to match the themes and events of that specific chapter. The chapter will begin with a lyric from the song selected for it, just to hint at the occurrences of that chapter. These songs will be selected from the playlist below. I hope this provides a few hints as to the direction I am taking Noah and Elijah's relationship in His Darkness:
happier than ever - billie eilish
the quiet - troye sivan
softcore - the neighbourhood
cherry - harry styles
dirty AF1s - alexander 23
that's our lamp - mitski
could cry just thinkin' about you - troye sivan
water fountain - alec benjamin
to be so lonely - harry styles
the cut that always bleeds - conan gray
heaven and back - chase atlantic
lost in the citadel - lil nas x
oxytocin - billie eilish
boyfriends - harry styles
stud - troye sivan
jealousy jealousy - olivia rodrigo
still into you - paramore
dark red - steve lacey
visions of gideon - sufjan stevens
slow down - chase atlantic
memories - conan gray
lost in the citadel - lil nas x
So that's that. I apologize in advance...
Anyways, please remember to vote and comment any thoughts, plot predictions, etc. Those always make my day. Also, make sure to follow my account if you want to receive notifications whenever a new chapter is uploaded or whenever I post any sort of update on the book.
Enjoy!
~Kai

"To you, I was an option. To me, you were a lifeline - my only. I don't blame you entirely, even though I really want to. You made me believe you were permanent, that I could hold on to you forever. Or maybe that's just the way I saw it in my state of desperation. Maybe I am the one to blame after all..."
