"Hey now, don't treat me like a child." He said as he stepped onto the rooftop.

I sat back up and looked at him with a smirk.

"Got a new toy i see... Looks like Heimerdinger taught you a lot."

I extended my hand out towards him. A smirk appeared on his face.

"If you wanna see it come and get it."

i chuckled as i looked back at him.

"Really?" I asked.

"Of course, what? You scared I'll beat you?"

"Pff, of course not. I just don't wanna wake up everyone in town with your screams."

He chuckled back at me and sat on the edge with me.

"What are you doing out so late again?"

I looked down in silence.

"I couldn't sleep."

His eyebrows rose at me answer.

"... Did something happen?... Hey."

He gently turned my head towards him with his hand.

Flashback:

I was roaming around in trash trying to find something to put on my wound when I suddenly heard movement behind me.

I turned around to find a boy with white hair staring at me.

His eyes slowly looked down at my wound on my arm.

"You're hurt... Here." He ruffled in his bag to find a bandage.

He slowly walked towards me but i stumbled back with a knife in hand.

"STAY BACK!"

He stopped realizing how scared the girl was. Following her gaze who ended up on his board, he decided to put it down and remove his mask.

Her eyes widened in surprise.

"I'm not going to hurt you... I just want to help."

"Liar. Nobody gives for free. Everything has a price."

His eyebrows furrowed at the many scars she had on her body.

"Not everyone... At least not me."

He approached me and put the bandage around my arm, completely ignoring my knife under his throat.

"There... That should help for a while."

I looked down at my feet.

"What happened ? ... Hey."

His hand slowly brought my face back up at him.

I looked at his concerned face and chuckled as i pushed his hand away. I stood up, walked off a few meters and looked into the horizon of the city.

"You haven't changed one bit..." I said.

He stood up but stayed behind me.

"But you did..."

The tone of his voice ... sounded sad.

"I miss the old days. The days were i taught you how to work metal... When you tried to ride a board... I miss my friends." He continued.

"Those were good times indeed."

"Then why do you continue this...? I know that they'll probably never stop but I'm losing my friend... Is losing yourself really worth all this?"

"Ekko, someone needs to stop them."

"I know! ... But they're all going to hate you and vilify you if you continue on this path."

I turned around to face him.

"I know. Piltover already does but Sometimes the world no longer needs a hero... Sometimes what it needs, is a monster."

Ekko's brows furrowed as Achlys's look was very serious.

"Continue giving hope to those you help, i can tell you from experience, they'll never forget it."

"Achlys..." His gaze softens.

"Goodnight Ekko."

With that said, she jumped off the building and disappeared into the night.

"Achlys... You don't need to fight alone."

Ekko's POV

I came back home and sighed as Heimerdinger caught me.

"Ekko? What are you doing up so late? You look like you saw a ghost."

"Oh uh i needed some parts." I said pulling a random metal piece out of my pocket.

"Couldn't that wait ...?"

"No... It's pretty urgent. Sorry I'm really tired, I'm going to get some sleep."

"Well alright. Goodnight Ekko."

"Goodnight Heimerdinger." I said before closing my door behind me.

I put my stuff down and dropped onto the bed.

"Achlys ..."

I still remember the day we met, a young girl ... Probably around the age of Powder, alone rummaging through trash while bleeding. She was terrified of me and yet didn't back down with her knife against my throat.

She lived with me for a few months before disappearing without any explanation...

"What's going through your head ..." I whispered.
