act three
chapter 'kolmekymmentäyksi' thirty-three

"ms. rosi, anything you say here can be used against you," the officer stated, ticking a pen against his clipboard.

vasiliki had found herself at the police station, unwillingly at that. it was the last place she wanted to be right now, but it had to be done.

after getting a call earlier in the day, she was asked to pay a visit. dreading the thought, the girl did get out of bed, and did manage to get there in a quick manner.

"i understand," she straightened her spine up, shuffling in her seat. there was no way she'd allow herself to be asked questions now, so the girl decided to be mature about the situation. "but i'm not answering any questions without a lawyer."

ignoring her exclamation, the man continued his statements, "what are your relationships with your father, mr rosi, and the other, ms. vilme?"

sighing, the redhead stopped herself from rolling her eyes, "as i said, i'm not answering anything."

she wasn't prepared to, and she didn't want the chance of slipping up.

"i have been informed of two very different sides ma'am," he continued, a confused look appearing across his face. he seemed to be struggling with the situation, and vasiliki not answering doesn't help. "the first one states you had been in a situation of domestic violence, the second being you were constantly running away as a child, and your father was trying to make sure everything is alright."

oh that son of a bitch, he did not just make something up like that. was he serious? did he really think that excuse would work? 'making sure everything is alright', well of course it's not, and to think he could even say that was ridiculous. a caring father, as if.

"can you confirm either of these? or are they both false?"

can this man listen? she's not just going to spill her guts with no preparation.

"i'd prefer to answer these in a professional setting."

the policeman exhaled in emphasis, rubbing his temples. he seemed to have had a long day and just didn't want to deal with this.

"i see, we will continue this later," he stood up, ready to escort the girl out of the room, "but i must say, the longer you leave it, the longer the other two are free."

it appears evident what side he believes, even if there is no proof. not particularly his job, but whatever tommi said seemed much more believable from a neutral perspective.

"of course, thank you."

and what would she do for the rest of the day? she didn't want to start searching now, even though it seems like the smartest option. maybe she could release a single soon, the girl wouldn't complain about some extra cash on hand. that sounds as if she doesn't care about her job, but who wouldn't say something similar?
