i don't really know what this chapter is
SATURDAY MORNING. I woke up with a start, the back of my neck tinged with sweat. I breathed heavily as I blinked the sleep from my eyes. Nightmares hadn't been something I dealt with since I was eight or nine, but I had at least had three in the past week.
I sat up in bed and brought my knees close to my chest as I rubbed my eyes, trying not to think of what had just taken place in my mind while I slept. I reached over to turn on a lamp and jumped at the sight of the chair that lived in my corner—it had recently become home to my laundry because my hamper was downstairs in the living room.
The past week hadn't been my most successful. Living in the new house was going really well, but I wasn't doing the best job at being the only person living in it.
Knowing I probably wouldn't be able to go back to sleep and that I needed something to aid my dry mouth, I pushed the blankets off my legs before stepping onto the cold hardwood floors. I grabbed my phone from its charger before standing up; it was about fifteen minutes 'til seven, so I wasn't entirely upset with having been woken up. It could've been worse, after all.
I sent Luke a good morning message, informing him of Nightmare #3, before walking out of my room and down the steps. I turned on the lights as I went, not taking any chances of scaring myself by having to walk back through any dark hallways.
I made a beeline for the coffeemaker, as per usual, before going through the steps to begin brewing a cup. As I waited for my coffee to brew, I opened my favorite app and started to scroll through my feed.
