ARDEN KIM WAS THE IT GIRL. Cliché right? But in the case of Arden Kim she was luckier than most, living in the close secluded bubble of her adoring father and albeit distant mother. Arden was the adored daughter, best friend and girlfriend to many, going to the depths of hell and back to protect those she cared about. Arden lived a glittering diamond life, the first crack appearing when she was twelve years old....
ARDEN KIM'S GOLDEN LIGHT BEGAN TO FADE the moment she learned of her father's timely passing. The worst six months of Arden's life had to be when she learnt of her father losing his supposed battle to cancer, the parasitic disease taking control of the former healthy man. Arden had always imagined her father to be the sun in her world, constantly orbiting around him. When he passed away, Arden's burst of golden light was destroyed, leaving the girl in total darkness.
ARDEN KIM WAS DROWNING both literally and metaphorically under the newly found scrutiny of her mothers prim and proper outlook to life. While Arden had been free to do whatever she pleased (while having her wits and senses about her of course ) under fathers love and care, Eun-Cha Lee was determined to mould the last remaining keepsake of her husband into what she saw fit. Arden who was struggling to keep her head afloat rebelled against the chains——— with the help of her closest set of friends, the pogues; John B Routledge, Pope Heyward and the kook princess Sarah Cameron.
ARDEN KIM'S GREATEST SUPPORT came from that of her best friend on the entire outer banks, JJ Maybank. From the ages of thirteen to sixteen, the two wouldn't been seen far from one another. The one close friendship blossoming into a purely sexual relationship to that of boyfriend and girlfriend. Arden's life, while missing one of the promising suns of her fathers love, greatly shined with her closest friends ( and a newly added one from the newest resident to the obx——Haven Murphy, JJ's cousin ) but like everything in Arden's life it had to come crashing down like a burning inferno ....
