Context: Another of my little plot ideas where Gottie (Rapunzel's witch) is alive and she has a time traveling artifact and the gang gets pulled in the past to round up their 11-year old selves. This is just a part of them escaping.

Her hair hung on her face like wet towels drying under the sun. Except that there was no sun outside. The rain poured over their heads with no signs of stopping, dampening their clothes and shoes. Gilly wiped a wet strand away from her face as she tried to hide the shivers she felt. The cold of the downpour was prickling her skin uncomfortably, but she couldn't stop walking even if the ground was getting muddy and slippery. Behind her, Ollie and Maxine trudged together, equally avoiding stepping on puddles and carefully trying not to slip. Maxine shielded Peaches from the rain, her wet frame hunching to protect the duck. Peaches was surprisingly quiet, no doubt shuddering from the rain. Ollie fumbled with the broken mirror he held in his hand. It had been blasted as they ran away from the selkie, and Gilly didn't know any spell to fix it. He silently prayed that help would find them soon.

The trio continued walking in the Hollow Woods, going North. Hopefully that would lead them back to the school. Gilly hugged herself, ignoring how soaked she was. She disliked how she got cold easily. Her fingers felt numb and her ears pounded, boots squelching and knees shaking, but she didn't falter in her footsteps. Ollie noticed it though.

"I think we should find shelter," he said. He was concerned for the girl, especially since all her energy was spent fighting against the selkie.

"No, the rain will stop eventually," she insisted. Who knows how much time they had left. Gilly didn't want to risk trapping the three of them in the past.

"But Gilly, you're shaking!" Maxine stopped walking. Maxine could easily handle the cold, but her friends (and her duck) couldn't.

"I'm not," she said with gritted teeth.

"We could stop under those trees," Maxine offered. This side of the forest wasn't dense, but a little shade wouldn't hurt them.

"Don't be stubborn now, Gilly." Ollie urged. He was also feeling cold; his small frame was quivering.

Before she could reply, something cried out.

They all turned around and spotted something—someone flying rapidly through the raindrops.

"I found them!" Kayla shrieked as she flew towards them. In the distance, several recognizable figures were seen. Gilly spotted the familiar flare of Jocelyn's magic, and released a breath she didn't know she was holding in. Her knees buckled suddenly, and she dropped to the ground.

"Thief!" someone shouted. "Ollie!" they added as Ollie crouched down beside her, also weakening. Gilly raised her head and as the figures got closer, she recognized three faces. Jax and Jocelyn were wearing cloaks to protect them from the rain. Kayla held towels in her arms as she flew closer.

"Gilly! Maxine! Ollie!" she shouted, eyes wide with concern. She wrapped Maxine in a towel immediately and knelt down to help Ollie up.

"He's cold," she gasped. Ollie gave her a weak smile. Kayla immediately wrapped him in the folds of two towels, hunkering his small frame. Before Kayla could help Gilly up, Jax pummeled through.

"Thief!" he exclaimed, his hair unruly and slightly damp as stray drops hit him. He grabbed the towel from Kayla and immediately wrapped it around the girl.

"Jax?" she managed out. Her ears were still pounding, and she didn't hear much of the conversation happening. He grabbed her hands, shocked at how cold they were.
