Ed's POV:

I felt terrible. Had I just sent this broken girl back into an unconscious state again? It had to be me. I was just singing and she passed out. I tried to keep her awake as I held her, but she was uncontrollably crying.

With her still sleeping on my couch, I couldn't help but hover this time. I couldn't stand to see her hurt. Something about when those eyes welled up with tears, my entire body felt like I was going to collapse, the outside world disappearing.

I made myself some tea and sat in the seat next to the couch. Turning on the TV as a distraction, I turned the volume down as she made a face and stirred but failed to wake up.

I tried to watch the TV and focus on the channels that I mindlessly scrolled through, but I couldn't help but look over at her more than I was able to watch the TV.

Her wavy hair was sprawled across the pillow wildly and she had turned her face out towards the rest of the living room. Out of the corner of my eyes, I could see her cheeks and how they were lightly splattered with freckles. Her face looked soft to the touch, but of course I resisted the urge to touch it.

Every so often in the midst of her sleeping, she would wiggle her nose and lips causing my stomach to drop a bit.

She still had her jumper and t-shirt on. How did she look to nice in those clothes. Most people wear them when they want to have a lazy day. I got the feeling that these were everyday clothes and they suited her so well. I remember her in jeans and boots that I had taken off when I first carried her up to my flat. Her bag laid near them.

I had laid my comforter over her and she had used it almost as a body pillow, snuggling her whole body and face into it. I also noticed that she gripped onto it very tightly.

Is she always this tense?

I was so worried that she would wake up and have another panic attack of sorts and lay here for more hours on end. That couldn't not happen again. It worried me too much. I would keep her awake and try not to scare her or set her off too much.

I started to lean back in my chair when I heard stirring next to me.

She turned upward and opened her eyes to look straight at the ceiling. She sat like this for about 3 minutes or so. Eventually she brought her hand to her face and rubbed her eyes. The light shone off of them.

"Ed? "

She remembers me.

" Right here. " I thought I might scare her as she had not looked at me yet.

" I know. " I couldn't help but chuckle, which set her into a little bit of a giggling fit.

Wow. That was some sort of laugh and smile.

Keep it together Sheeran.

She came out of her laughing and turned serious quickly. The change in her expression was quite unsettling.

"What has been happening to me? "

I didn't really know how to answer this.

"Well, the other night, I was walking along and you slammed into me." I heard her sigh. "After that you told me to let you go but then fell down. Soon after, you passed out from crying and I sort of panicked and brought you here. You were out for the night and this morning you got up and I came out. You wanted me to prove that I was, well... me, and I started to sing and... "

" I lost it. "

" Yeah... " I felt bad admitting it to her, but I couldn't describe what happened.

" I'm sorry to have put you in this position. I'm sure you have loads to do being a famous singer and all. "

By this time she had sat up, but not turned my way.

" Really, it's fine. I'm on a break right now, just kind of keeping my head down and trying to write a bit. Just got out of a tour."

"Sounds like it would have been spectacular. " She looked at me in wonder to find an answer.

" It was" I smiled back. She smiled as she faced the windows again. "Would you want tea by chance? I think the water's still hot...." I said trailing off in thought.

"That sounds perfect right now."

I quickly got up and fixed up a cup for her in the kitchen.

When I stepped back into the room, I saw her eyes reflecting the sunlight from the windows. This time with shallow tears in her eyes. These weren't the same tears as the night before and the ones this morning. There was a sharp pain in them instead of fear and terror. I walked over to the couch and sat cross legged in from of it while she continued to stare out of the windows.

She wiped off her tears with her thumbs and looked at me with the same pain filled eyes, now shining with kindness and grabbed the tea as I passed it to her.

I could barely hear her mumble a "Thanks" with a small smile on her face.

"It's Leylah. But most people call me Ley. "

I looked up from my cup at her face which was locked back on the sky outside.

" I like Leylah" I managed to say.

"I like Ed. " she said with that insane smile.
