Chapter 7:The Rainbow Under the Sea

Weeks later, Encre's POV

I chuckle and laugh into the night as Fallacy jokes around with me. I sat in his lap as he sat on the top of one of his castle towers. Usually guards would be there and walking in the square space, but he let them skip this shift so we could be alone tonight. He told me so many jokes. And no, they were not the ones you'd find in a joke book. He made them up himself. And he also told me about the stupid things he deals with in council meetings. Just like everyone else, those council members were not perfect or were saints. And that made them less scary. Plus some of the things he dealt with were so stupid it was funny. Like pulling Horror out of the table because one of the other members bet that he was a terrible diver before the meeting started and FOR SOME REASON Horror thought it would be a good place and time to prove them wrong by diving from the ceiling to the table. 

"Suave apparently is still mad at Horror for pulling that stunt. Suave puts a lot of work and time to set the table up for meetings. So for him to make a mess over something so stupid was very insulting to him."Fallacy says

"Pfft and that says something when he gets angry."I say

He nods.

"It feels like I am a teacher dealing with crazy students. I try to teach them something or fix an issue when we start, but they fool around so much that we go off topic. We could go in there to discuss territory issues and come out of that meeting wondering if a pear is more green than grass!"He says

He shakes his head and chuckles.

"I nickname my council my Honorary children because they are as childish as Jasper! Or worse!"He says

I chuckle happily.

"How have you been resting? Still having nightmares of your father hurting you?"He asks

"I have been resting better. I don't have those nightmares anymore."I say

Not when they have changed to a fear of him hurting those I love.

I don't say that since I don't want to worry him.

"Good, I don't want anything to hurt you or ruin your days and nights."He says

I smile at him and his face turns yellow.

"Quit being so cute."He says

My face burns.

"What did I just say?"He sighs

"Stop being so cute."I say

"You know what happens now.~"He says

He starts kissing my neck especially on my mark. I squeak in surprise, feeling my soul race.

I see the moon start to set and the night sky brighten. The morning sun will rise soon.

"I should head back before the village wakes up."I say

"Alright. Same time next week?"He asks

I nod. We go inside and he gets my art supplies in the satchel. I hug him and leave. I stroll through the forest, reaching my village just as the sun came up. I walk through town and reach my home. I look around. By now more people were moving into the small village. All kinds of monsters so it was always nice to meet newcomers. It is the month of good luck. I want to record this greatness. I open the bag and reach in to get my stuff but find a small note with it. I pick it up and read it. Forget the pot of gold, your rainbow is the only treasure I need.~Fal

Oh my goodness. Fallacy is so sweet.

"So? Was Cupid right with his match this time?"Décans asks, popping up beside me
