Chapter 2: A Problematic Prince

A motnh later, Encre's POV

I sip my hot coco, still waking up. I read another letter from F as I sip from a mug. I smile, they are sweet, whoever they are. I watch the sunlight creep in through the windows. I have a bag resting beside me. But light is not the only thing that creeped inside.

"Hi Encre!"Jasper says

"You are early. And how did you get in here?"I ask

"I flew in through your kitchen window as a bat! I want to have more time to spend with you! If I go at night other vampires will get suspicious."He says

"I see....How are we gonna handle this situation?"I ask

"What situation?"He asks

"The situation that you are a vampire child in territory you shouldn't be and I am the only person who knows. My buddy is asleep upstairs but surely he and others will find it odd to see a bat flying in or out a window or out front. I don't want you to get in danger."I say

"Ohhh, I see."He says

"How about this, you enter through the back window. It never locks properly so just a double tap should get ya inside. Just make sure I am home or we will have to explain to my friend why he found a bat or you on the windowsill tapping."I say

"That sounds like a good idea!"He says

Then he notices my bag.

"Are you going somewhere?"He asks

"I'm leaving to go to my grandma's today. I'll be staying with her for a few days. When I am back, you will find a candle on the windowsill to my room."I say

"Oo! Can I meet her?"He asks

'Umm, maybe another time. She can get protective or crazy around strangers. Sometimes violent....But she is very nice."I say

"Violent?"He asks

"Whoever causes trouble like hurting her family gets a whack from a cane. I'll introduce her to you another time. She is a fan of vampires."I say

"Is that another letter from F?"He asks

I nod.

"I can take your answer back to them."He says

"Oh, thank you."I say, taking out the envelope

"I'll be on my way before your friend wakes up! Have fun with your grandma!"He says

"Thanks! Stay out of trouble!"I tell him

He leaves and I grin. I grab my bag and go to the stables. I pet my horse and lead it out. I hop on the saddle, grab the reins and take off. I ride my horse along a trail that runs along a dark forest. The same forest nobody dares enter with all the beasts. Well, besides my grandma. She is always getting herself into trouble. She claims that she had evening tea with vampires or other beasts, but nobody believes her besides me. I know my grandmother. She is a daredevil and a sweet lil lady.

I watch the forest carefully as my horse trots along the trail. A pair of eyes start shining from the shadows, following me as I go. I frown, stopping my horse. I will not lead trouble to my grandma's house. I look at the pair of eyes.

"Hello? Who are you and is there something you need?"I ask

The eyes look at me in surprise, then disappear from sight. That freaked me out. I yank the reins and quickly go to my grandma's house. I lead my horse to her stables and feed her. I smile and knock on my grandmother's door.

"Grandson! Encre! My precious little boy! So good to see you!"She says

"Hello, Grandma. How have you been?"I ask
