daniel walked into oakland high school with his head down and his hands shoved into his pockets. he couldn't get over the fact that his best friend had started dating the girl he was in love with.

he felt betrayed, but also felt like he had no right to feel that way. daniel never told corbyn that he had a crush on june, so it wasn't corbyn's fault.

"sup, bro," corbyn greeted, standing by daniel's locker.

without replying, daniel slightly smiled, and began to unpack his belongings from his backpack. corbyn tilted his head, "uh, did you have a rough weekend?"

"you could say that," daniel muttered.

"what?" corbyn asked.

before daniel and corbyn could continue their awkward conversation, rosaline and elena interrupted them.

"you and june?" rosaline asked, pointing at corbyn, "since when?"

corbyn shrugged, "i don't know, uh, we just clicked recently."

rosaline squinted her pale blue eyes, "i'm suspicious. i've known june for a while, and she never mentioned you guys being... close."

"leave him alone, rosie," elena urged, nudging at rosaline's elbow, "if corbyn's happy, we should be happy for him too."

"yeah, real happy," daniel mumbled.

presley walked over to daniel's locker, and joined their conversation, "what are we talking about?"

"corbyn has a girlfriend," elena answered.

the brunette's eyes widened, "oh, i didn't know that. that's great for you, corbyn."

corbyn slightly smiled, "th-thanks, presley."

to their fortune, the homeroom bell rang and now corbyn and presley could avoid an awkward conversation.

"i'll see you guys at lunch," presley declared, walking away.
