I have a whole rant about a certain fanfiction that has literally been in my drafts since September because of the abuse in it, but instead im just gonna focus on this subject in all fanfics
Now, a lot of us love to read a story with the kind of dominant protective male type, but some stories take it too far and end up romanticizing abuse
and that's a really serious situation.
there's a difference between being jealous and being controlling
there is a difference between having a fight and being verbally abusive
and i don't think enough people realize this
I s2g I could read story that's like-
"Damn it Margret! You are such a fucking slut and you deserved to have your brother get run over by that taco truck!1!! you're so stupid, no wonder your mother doesn't speak to you!" Harry screams.
"...What? Why would say that?" The tears began rolling down my face and i see harry's face soften.
"Oh my god Margret, I'm sorry, I didn't mean it." Harry says as he begins to sob uncontrollably.
and soME PEOPLE WOULD BE COMMENTING SHIT LIKE "aw Harry! He's crying! Don't be mad at him he's fragile!!!!"
no gtfo he's verbally abusive and needs to get his shit together
The biggest thing I notice though, is that the 'over-controlling' part of the abusive relationship seems to be really popular.
Like people seem to think that beating up every guy a girl talks to is romantic and shows how much he cares about her, but that is not romantic.
