“How do you kill people at a distance?” Chelnuk asked Disgast.

“I just wait until they come close enough and slash at them with my sword.”

“Do you not even know how to throw a knife?” inquired Nimen.

The old soldier sat on a tree stump, “In my battles for the old King’s we never had need to shoot at anything. I had better eyes when I was younger but now... I will just kill the giants as they get close to me.”

Nimen spoke privately to Chelnuk by lowering his voice, “How long do you think your father will be setting this trap?”

“I have no idea. For now we will train with the bow and hunt the few giants causing bother on the borders. We have shown we can defeat at least one or two giants by ourselves.”

That evening, while he was by the fire, Chelnuk felt a presence. He went outside for some air and saw his angel, Silva, with another angel.

“Greetings my lord Silva,” he said as he bowed slightly to acknowledge them both.

Silva introduced the other angel, “This is Cretha, he is of Rintel’s cohort.”

“My lord Cretha,” Chelnuk bowed again.
