Kendra held the wall with the men by using long spears to keep the giants back. They jabbed and speared the enemy while Enoch and Nimen used their ranged weapons to harass them. Once two more of their number fell the giants decided to retreat. They left their wounded behind.
After cutting the rest of the villagers down Loja and the other men from the village found out what had happened. Angrily they stormed up to Kendra. “These are the survivors of our village. You have brought this calamity upon us.”
Looking ashamed the half angel replied, “I am truly sorry Loja, I believed they would come straight for this camp when they heard we here. I should have made sure.” His voice began to crack.
“We no longer want to be part of this group and want you nowhere near what is left of our village.”
Loja, Finlan and Drogha began to weep in the arms of the survivors they had rescued. Drogha’s son was one of those captured and told of his mother’s death at the hands of the giants. The village men left to return to the ruin of their homes.
While his men rested Kendra questioned the three wounded giants they had captured.
