Javier sighed, feigning offense. "I just wanted to catch up. But you don't want to talk to me, I'll leave. Say hi to Matthias for me," he said a playful, mischievous smile on his lips. "And it was nice meeting you, Flora." And with that, Javier walked away, easily bounding over the fence.
Wes frowned. "I never trusted him," he said, frowning. "I don't blame you," I added as an afterthought.
He moved his hands up my arms and pulled me closer, having me gasp briefly. "I don't like the way he was looking at you. I love you, Flora. And after what happened with Dylan..." He trailed off meaningly, his face suppressing his anger.
"Don't worry about me," I said softly. He shook his head, a frown marring his lips before he added; "I always will."
