Madi's POV

This past month has been hell. When Sydney and Chris didn't get home, Jason freaked. He sent out search parties and called in favors in the police department to find her but to no avail. He went to Jackson Gray but he told Jason that they left that morning, even though they didn't. Jason could tell Jackson was lying but had no proof. He tried to get information out of me but I told him I knew nothing, which was only partly true; I didn't know anything of use to him. I'm worried about Jason. He spends his days in his room drinking. He barely eats or sleeps. Sean has been running the gang for him on top of running down any and every lead to find them. I made him a sandwich for lunch and walked up to his room. I knocked on the door but heard no response. I opened it to see him drinking on the couch looking out the window in a daze. The room was trashed with broken glass and blankets. The only thing untouched was a side of the bed, Sydney's side.

"Jason?" I said quietly. He said nothing. I walked over and held it out to him. "Will you please eat?"

"I'm not hungry Madi," he said not looking up.

"Jason, please. She-she wouldn't want you to do this to yourself." I pleaded.

"She's made it perfectly clear she doesn't care for me. Now leave," he said as he took another sip of whiskey. I sighed. Setting the plate on the coffee table, I left his room and closed the door.

Sean saw me leaving Jason's room. "Any luck?" he asked.

I shook my head. "Still not eating, only drinking."

He shook his head in disappointment. "He needs to stop this."

"It will stop... when he forgets and moves on from Sydney," I said.

"You and I both know that won't happen. She changed him, for the better. I hate to say it but he needs her."

"But-"I started.

"Madi, it was wrong what he did to get Sydney, but anyone could see... he loves her, whether he knows it or not."

I was going to continue the conversation when the doorbell rang. We went downstairs and I opened the door. I groaned when I saw who was there. "What the hell are you doing here?" I asked Erica.

She walked in wearing her tan wedges, white short-shorts, a tight red tank top with a plunging v-neck. "I was invited," she smirked.

"Yeah right," said Sean behind me.

She pulled out her phone and showed the text that Jason sent her inviting her over. "So I'll be going upstairs now." and she went upstairs.

"Sean-"

"I don't know Madi. I'm going to talk to him when she leaves," he said. I nodded and went to the living room while he went to the office.

Erica didn't leave until past eight. You could hear the banging and her screams from the first floor. She smirked at us as she left, even having the nerve to wink at Sean. When she left Sean stormed upstairs to talk to Jason. I sighed and went to my room. I took out my phone and looked through my pictures. I looked at the drunk selfies I took with Sydney and the pictures we took at the party we took her to.

As much as I want her to be safe, I know in some way she was happy here. She makes Jason a better person. He will change for her... if she lets him...
