Regretting my laziness to do a load of laundry last week, I was forced to slip into a dirty pair of jogging pants. I grabbed my phone off the bed and slipped it into my pocket before meeting Christos on the porch. I was restraining myself from texting the guild, as I didn't want to interrupt their Thanksgiving dinner, but boy was I ever tempted as there were like a thousand text messages from Shaniqua. I figured she just wanted to wish me happy birthday.
Yes, it was my 30th birthday. So why wasn't I celebrating and surrounded by friends? The truth was that I wasn't very big on birthdays; I have always kept it on the down low. I guess I got used to spending them quiet and alone, as Franklin was usually working.
"Hey, Viola, beautiful night for a run, huh?" Christos said, bending over to stretch.
"I love it. This is the perfect weather to go bra-less."
Christos laughed. "Ready?"
"Let's do it," I said, jogging closely beside Christos.
