Chapter 6 - Scene 3

It was time to close up shop and prepare for the group session. My stomach was in knots as I was nervous about the intensity I was about to face. I was still worried that the group wouldn't show up.

After rinsing out the last juicer and powering down, I made my way to the bathroom to freshen up.

Staring deeply into the spotty bathroom mirror, I began the breathing exercises I'd learned from watching episodes of Teen Mom.

"You can do this, Viola," I whispered to myself. Talking into mirrors has calmed me down ever since my first breakdown in third grade, when a rebellious classmate stabbed my best friend, Emily Jane, a Cabbage Patch kid I'd received as a birthday gift.

"You got this, Viola," I said, a little bit louder. "Just go out there and give it your all. But not too much because you forgot to put deodorant on this morning."
