Christmas Day

"It's Christmas!" I heard Camille yell from her room. Carter and I were both down stairs, preparing Christmas breakfast. He and I both laughed at our daughter's excitement and we heard her little footsteps make their way to the bathroom.

"She up early as hell, it's like 8am." Carter commented, passing me the glass plates from the cabinet.

"I know right. she wouldn't even go to sleep last night because she wanted to see if she saw Santa. I had to bribe her and tell that if she was in bed by 10 o'clock, then I would make her favorite breakfast." I laughed.

"Shakin' my damn head. How you gon' bribe our child like that?" he laughed as well. I put the food on 16 different plates for all of our family -our parents, Camille. Lamar, Renee, Jazmine, Jamie, Andre', Devaughn, Cally, her two children, and ourselves. Since it was simple and it was Camille's favorite breakfast, we made cheese grits, baked salmon cakes, hashbrowns, and scrambled eggs. We added pancakes, Italian beef sausages, home fries, and french toast to make it basically a buffet for everyone. We cooked enough food to damn near feed one-third of the city of Dallas, but we knew our family could eat.

We made the plates, set the table in our big family dining room,  and put the remainder of the food in decorative Christmas bowls and big decorative Christmas plates. We washed all of the dishes and cleaned up the kitchen before I heard Camille coming down stairs.

"Good morning mommy and daddy." she greeted with a big smile on her face. She still had on her purple and pink polka dotted pajamas on with her pink fuzzy slippers and her long curly hair in a bun that I did last night before she went to bed.

"Good morning princess," we both greeted simultaneously. "You're up really early." Carter laughed, scooping her up after he washed and dried his hands.

"I wanted to open my presents really early so I had to wake up really early!" she explained, dancing in his arms.

"You can't open up your presents until you get washed up and we eat breakfast with the rest of our family. They have lots of presents for you and the twins too." I reminded her, kissing her on the cheek before I sat at the island. I was feeling mildy dizzy but I tried to play it off. I looked at the baby monitor on the island counter and I could hear the faint snoring of the boys. I smiled at the sound of their little snores, they were getting so big.

"Awww, okay mommy." she pouted. Carter began tickling her and she erupted in laughter as he took her into the living room. I smiled at the two of them and proceeded to wash my hands at the sink and dry them off with a paper towel. Putting the towel in the trash, I heard the cooing sounds of the twins through the baby monitor. I walked out of the kitchen and walked upstairs towards the twins' room across the hall from us, right next to Camille's room.

I slowly opened the door and I saw the twins rolling around in their separate cribs, that were right next to each other, playing with their blankets and their feet.

"Hi handsomes!" I cooed to them, making their light brown eyes shot up and at me smile toothless smiles. Cameron reached out his hands to me, while Kyree continued to kick and giggle while looking at me. I picked Cameron up with his blanket, taking off his diaper and his onesie while I listened to Kyree's babbles and giggles.

I heard the bedroom door slightly open and I turned around to see Carter in the doorway. It was a good thing he came in here before I put the boys in their baths, I needed the extra pair of limbs.

"Need help?" he asked laughing, already knowing my answer.

"Yeah nigga." I rolled my eyes and laughed. He walked out of the room and I heard water running from the bathroom for about 5 miniutes. When it stopped, Carter came back in and grabbed Cameron from me and took him into the bathroom. I undressed Kyree after he stopped his kicking spree and I took him in the bathroom.
