California Sea Lion Facts
Length: 7 ft. 10 in.
This sea lion's short fur can be glossy black or matte brown. Each male has a distinct mane around its neck. With five webbed digits on its legs and flippers more developed than other sea lions. It can also move more nimbly on land. It is polygamous, with a male creating a harem of over 10 females. Because of this the male patrols to protect against other males encroaching on his turf.
Have trouble tell the difference between seals and sea lions?

Sea lions have ear flaps where as seals don't have ear flaps but ear holes on each side of the head.
Secondly sea lions use their front flippers to waddle around more easily on land whereas seals just crawl on their bellies which is probably why they can be found so close to ice holes in the Arctic and the Antarctica since it is easier for them get around underwater. Thirdly, sea lions are social animals that come ashore in groups while seals don't gather in groups but rather come up through the ice unless the mother seal is rearing a pup of her own.
Fourthly, a seal's body is fatter and not as slippery as a sea lion and looks like a brown lump of sausage on a white ice.

Both sea lions and seals can bark. Their young are called pups.
Hey guess what? Disney doesn't always get it wrong. In Finding Dory we are introduced to two California Sea Lions named Fluke and Rudder. You can see them super up close and see their unique features that make them different from seals.
Fun Facts : Walrus are the largest seal. It is also the only seal with a very thick hide and two long tusks. Their tusks help themselves heave their body onto ice or the shore. Walruses are also the only seals that can get around easily without having to crawl around so much.

Sea Lion like seals suffer from getting entangled in gill nets. If the fishing line stays entangled around the animal's neck they are at death's door unless they get helped quickly.  What happens is line digs in more as the animals moves around starting breathing issues and preventing the animals from swallowing their food. Basically, gill nets are a choking hazard for both sea lions and seals.

Natural Predators: Sharks, and Ocras.
